Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom is quite dated but that does fit the feel of the building and location. Window blinds and curtains are not blackout so room was still quite bright in the evening. Street noise is out with the hotels control but was quite loud in the evening and early morning
Very friendly staff throughout and the food in the restaurant is excellent. Room was clean and spacious

United KingdomA slight smell of drains in the stairwell but otherwise, hard to fault. The hotel car park is reasonably secure (a barrier is unlocked by the room key) but a bit of a walk, however our car stayed plugged in to the charger on the square - somewhat closer to the hotel! It is what it is - essentially a restaurant with perfectly adequate and pleasant rooms in an externally charming building - perfect for what we were looking for as a one-night stay as we were passing through. We would certainbly stay there again.
The location is excellent, right on Glückstad's main square. The staff pleasantly welcomed us and showed us that the key opened a side door for access to the rooms, which were up a steepish staircase and a passage with steps up and down - well, it's an old building! The room was clean, comfortable enough and looked out over a side street but hey, we were there to sleep not to look at a view. The restaurant was open and in fact the food was excellent and very good service (as is customary in Germany) with the most likeable staff looking after us. Breakfast was good rather than excellent in the restaurant which was quite dark. A bonus as an EV driver, was that there is a Type 2 charger (accepts the New Motion card) very close to the hotel on the square. Although parking charges and a 2-hour time limit apply during the day, it's free and unlimited at night so the car happly charged up overnight while we had dinner, explored the envions and slept. We would certainly stay there again if we are passing. The once-fortified and moated town is well worth exploring. Glückstadt (despite its literal English translation 'Lucky City') has a tortured history having been within both Germany and Denmark at various times; as well as blockaded by the English in 1814 and occupied by Austria in 1864. Today it is peaceful, has in interesting range of independent shops, lots of places to eat and drink and good information panels about the town's history. It is located on the right bank of the broad lower Elbe and pressing on next day, we crossed on the car ferry (Elbefähre) to continue our journey back to the Netherlands.

NetherlandsNoisy at night because the room faced the backyard with noisy airco and kitchen. Entry door to the room was stuck and could only be closed/opened by force. Running water suddenly after flushing the toilet.
We had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant and a good breakfast. Friendly personal and the location was perfect.

United KingdomRoom was in the annex next to hotel. Spiral staircase with no lift or help with cases. Room was tiny and overlooked fire escape and kitchen roof area including kitchen air conditioner which was noisy and smelly . Couldn’t open window because of noise and smell. Room looked old and not very inviting. Shower had useless very fine spray. Glad it was only one night.

Czech RepublicThe room was not as nice as at the pictures at booking.com. The main door was not working well - it was difficult to get into the room The shower hose metal cover was torn away close to the nozzle, and the water stream was poor The most troubling thing was the glass door from the room to the bathroom - it was not properly adjusted, so it was loose and it was doing terrible noise everytime going to the bathroom. All in all - the room was a bit worn out
The location was what we did expect, so perfect The breakfast fabulous the beds were of the right hardness as we like
