How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I came to the hotel before check in to register and settle so at 14:00 i will have the key. They did not let me. They did not even let me stay in their lobby and said that i can’t be there. When i came at 14:00 there were line (im not surprised) but i officially got my key at 15:45. The customer are all angry due to slowness of movement on queue. And the receptionist, instead of apologizing, she is also angry saying that it’s not only her who are in line and everyone has to wait in line. If i will give advise. Have your guest who came early to register and at check in (14:00) just handover the key

Lots of foreign men sitting in the reception for the whole day and night. Not sure if it’s the location but it seems to attract a weird crowd. For a night out the location was ideal. We stayed on a Saturday night and paid €50, it’s definitely not worth €50. If you find it for cheap and are going to Madrid for a night out then it’s perfect.

No kitchen(there is a kitchen, but we are not allowed to use it) No place to do laundry , no place to hang the clothes. I don’t like the front desk staff. Bad attitude. it takes forever to check in The key card is not working well. room door won’t open

- bad general condition - breakfast shouldn't be even mentioned as there's only very bad coffee machine, a toaster and a few types pastry - the cleaning is questionable. the cleaning ladies come every day but they don't clean the shower cabin, no dusting or good ventilation between guests. - the linens seem to be clean but there're stains from age - no feeling of safety
-the mattress and the pillow were surprisingly good at first, but the mattress 'remembers' your body and creates a hole quite quickly and it's not comfortable at all, even though the structure of the bunk bed is extremely weak and inconvenient -the location is good in terms of public transport/stores/cafes, but it’s very loud at night + incredible hot and you either sleep without fresh air or listen to laughs, cars and other noise all night. -Wi-Fi was very good! it was the best part of the stay. -people on the reception are helpful and friendly. -the reviews pictured a much worth situation. yes, in reality you find a lot of ‘unpleasant’ guests and if you are lucky you’ll get good quiet and clean neighbours, if not then it’s a cheap hostel, there’s nothing to expect here.

I didn’t like bed’s because they don’t have curtains. There are a lot of people in room. Bathroom door doesn’t have locks and neither lockers for your things

maybe you should charge one euro plus and pay for another cleaning lady to clean the bathrooms for a second turn. I enter to my room and the bidet had rests of poop on there. Gladly the receptionist changed me my room, but still, hygiene it's important. Also i didn't like they don't have kitchen.

Most of the people had trouble with the room key at the moment to open the door. Other people were sleeping in my designed bed, so I had to choose another available one

I had to wait more than 30 minutes in a large line to do the check in even though I already checked in online, the staff at the check in wasn't really friendly neither, the AC was way to hot in the room
24-hours-reception; keycard worked fine; very supportive cleaning staff, that showed me the way to my room; there is a shower with towel for the floor in the bathroom and lockers in the room; the staff at the check out was very nice

the location is amazing the room is not so cozy dirty bathroom, etc. Breakfast is ok, although it might be better if the staff reminds about this option, because at 09-50 I could no longer get food. but breakfast is until 10-00

Checkin was a nightmare. Every day I was there, there was a line out the door for check in—it took an hour in line. Too many beds in one room, you can hardly walk. The breakfast was a disappointment.
The location was good, the bathroom was nice.
