How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The sofabed sheet is really dirty but after report, they send a cleaning team to change it.
The location is good. Not too far from the center of Madrid. The staff is okay and helpful to solve the problem.

Human contact is near-impossible. Trying to use the contact number yields a very unhelpful chatbot. Someone does eventually respond to an email, but this can take hours. As an example, the electric door to the building stopped working and no one responded to calls or emails for hours. I understand the economy here, but having a responsive person doing email fort a cluster of apartment buildings seems necessary. The other issue was that the bedroom along the street can be really noisy with voices (though, of course, this IS Madrid).
The apartment is nicely laid out and in a terrific neighborhood: lots of food, shops, etc.

Pre check in process is too much! Being bombarded with emails needing to provide a lot of information, signing documents etc 3 days in advance seems very unnecessary and took a lot of the pre city break excitement away

Going through the steps to check-in was difficult. The room was not as clean as I would have liked and some bed sheets had stains on them (even though you could tell they were washed. The stains had remained despite the wash). The double beds are two single beds that are pushed together and if you are traveling with a small child, there is a EUR10/day charge for baby cribs.
The apartment was big and roomy, situated in a good location in Madrid. You can walk to many of the attractions.

Getting in make sure you read instructions in full. Need to download app. Wifi available to do that. Nearly got locked out on last day. Check out was later but could not get in on last morning when one of us went to supermarket. Code wouldn't work. Dark in the foyer.
Great base for a short stay in Madrid. Easy walking distance to most sights and main shopping area. Nice size for 2. Great to be able to do washing. Well set up in kitchen. Didn't cook but nice microwave and good facilities in kitchen if you wanted to. Nice and quiet and warm. Small bathroom but that was expected.

So difficult to pay through their online paying system, so difficult to check in online, and wait for the right code to get into the building and apartment. If you are not patient enough and you are in a hurry do avoid this booking.
Great location, a few steps from Chueca, Malasana, Salamanca areas. Well equipped, extremely clean and quiet.

The hot water broke down on my last day and given that there is nobody at the building who works with Slow Suites (and no easy way to contact anyone either, which I could find at that time), first I wasted about 30 minutes trying to fix it and then I gave up given there was more time left and I had to take an extremely cold shower which was awful.
Fantastic location. Great apartment overall. Comfortable bed. Quiet. Good value

There was shower gel (seemed to be Rituals brand, but difficult to get out), could have been more toilet paper, coffee capsules and milk and tea towel. Also extra pillows and duvets would have been nice.
Great location, close to the centre, restaurants, transport. Nicely decorated flat, heating worked well. Hosts were responsive. We used the luggage locker facility which was useful.

We missed 2 big towels because the big towels were only put on the beds, but we were with more people and also slept on the sleeping couches. They did not take this into consideration. Water in one of the bathrooms did not go down so well.
Location superb, all clean, good size, comfy beds.
