The 2nd bed is a sofa bed and, as is usual when we are in a hotel our 4 year old wants to share the big bed so one of us has to have the sofa bed. It was noisy and uncomfortable. A sofa is unnecessary and a proper bed would make the stay much more comfortable.

Nice old hotel. Good size room. Nice bar and restaurant. Good location near the beach and not too far to town.

As we were a family, it was disappointing and inconvenient at times that we could not be accommodated near each other despite requesting it. One of our rooms was very small for the price - I feel like a discount to the advertised price should have been offered because of it. It was drastically different in size to the other room we were given.

The staff we met were all very good. The facilities in the hotel we really enjoyed - swimming pool, location to the beach, tennis court, excellent restuarant and bar.

The hallway to our room smelt like weed the second night into the second morning. It did not dissipate for the whole day and was pungent.

Although the room was very nice and comfortable with a great shower in the bathroom and a lovely side view to the sea, be prepared for the wall (with a door) to let through all the sounds between rooms 200 and 201. Can be disturbing.

Very friendly staff, a very relaxing atmosphere, tastefully decorated. It has a perfect location. Very good self-service breakfast.

Nice if had biscuits with our tea only 2 teabags english tea and lemon tea no hot chocolate .been in cheaper hotels and had extra things .we did have a fridge

When guests in the room above walked it was like they were coming through the ceiling and at 4am that’s really not what you want ! Not sure what could be done to resolve the floor vibrations !

Breakfast was awful for 17.50 I would expect the breakfast to be cooked fresh not buffet, the bacon was all stuck together in able to separate looks like it had been cooked the day before, the sausages were small and tasteless, and the fact that I served myself and I was charged a service charge, had my breakfast out the next morning which cost 12.50 and was cooked fresh not charged service charge x I left my own tip

The passage to the cottage rooms was cold and a bit rundown, but the room itself had very effective central heating, and I prefer an old-fashioned radiator to wall-mounted aircon. Would have liked more variation in the evening menu.

I had cottage room 502 with a fantastic sea view over the pier, the main reason for choosing the Highcliffe. However I was initially allocated a room with no sea view despite booking one, then offered cottage room 518 with sea only visible by peering round the desk. The staff were very helpful, but if I'd checked in later I might have been disappointed. I recommend confirming a specific room in advance. Breakfast: I liked the omelette service.

Couldn’t fault the breakfast or the staff . The enormous room was lovely, but there were no drawers in the bedroom , and it would have nice to have had a shaving mirror in the bathroom .
