Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom cost was £120, was very spacious but was quite 'tired' in places, the glass holder in the bathroom was quite lose above the sink, there were white marks around the door inside the room which didn't look very nice, wallpaper behind radiator was coming away. We do appreciate that it is an old building but these issues could be resolved.
Loved the area, very peaceful, fabulous building, loved learning about the history of it. Fab room, very spacious, had lovely night's sleep, food good, service okay.

United KingdomThe young staff serving the evening meal didn’t have much customer service skill. When an item on the menu was queried, our server did not have a clue as to what the menu was and we were waiting for a while for condiments to be brought to the table after our meals were served. It didn’t ruin our experience as everything was wonderful, although management should definitely ensure the serving staff are aware of what they are serving and maybe teach some customer service skills
The bar tender Oliver was absolutely spot on. He could not do enough for us during our stay. He is a hard worker with fantastic customer service skills. I hope his manager is aware that he goes well above and beyond for his guests

United KingdomOn day one, the main food choice on the menu was unavailable. We should have been told before we ordered. We dined with friends and one meal served 20 mins after everyone else. No vegetarian sausage on day 1. Day 2 got the wine order wrong at dinner. Breakfast was beyond belief 3 orders lost. Must have been a 45 minute wait before it was served. Billing incorrect for all rooms.
The room was beautiful, as was the setting. Plenty of hot water. Large towels, great shower. Lots of free parking. The quality of the food we had was good but service left a lot to be desired. See following paragraph..

United Kingdomthe dinner menu was the same every night ,although we did not have children the menu did not cater for them at all. it was very limited if you wanted steak there was a £9.95 supplement apart from steak there were two fish dishes and belly fat (sorry pork).the breakfast although was excellent and the waiting staff were first class nothing was too much trouble
avoid room 11 which was allocated to us on arrival the boiler is just behind the headboard and fired up every 1/2 hour through the night .every time someone ran any water the bath GURGLED so loud it woke you up ,my wife slept on the floor as far away from the boiler noise as possible (do you get the worst room when you book through booking .com) we asked next morning to be moved which they did without any fuss ,we were told to pack our bags and go and enjoy the day and when the new room was ready they would move our bags for us .the second room was a lot better

United KingdomRoom was nothing like we’d expected (in comparison to web site advertisement). Very low beam that was awkward to negotiate. Very tight for space around the bed area. Felt a bit like we’d been put into the ‘cheap seats’. Requested we move room but none available.
Staff and meals very good

United KingdomWe were a little disappointed in our room, especially after seeing some of the others. Tbf to the hotel, we did book last minute and so were happy to get anything on a bank holiday weekend, but we would have loved a bigger room with a nicer view. Plus the ladies serving breakfast, although very pleasant and polite, did not seem to be as organised as the dinner time service, a few things were missing such as milk jug, cups and jams, and the breakfast was a little late coming.
Loved the house, absolutely stunning. The food was excellent, and the staff were superb, especially the young man who was waiting tables, running the bar and everything in between. He was polite, cheerful and did an excellent job.

United KingdomBeautiful interesting building but requires some maintenance. A challenge with any old building is always keeping on top of things. Everywhere was fresh and clean but the bad weather caused some leaks and carpets in the main hallway showed evidence of staining.
Good menu choice and tasty food. Large bedroom room with nice bathroom.

United KingdomThe stairs to our bedroom but next time I will ask for a lower floor, there was also a big dog barking probably from one of the neighbouring houses Apart from that all was good
Lovely stay breakfast was delicious, staff very friendly Our room was large and we were on the top floor room 11, I think we had the boiler system behind the panel behind our bed as it kept coming on and going off just before we went to bed
