How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Had to leave luggage in the bar In open view for anybody to take. Entrance to the hotel, had to go through the bar and ask and they pointed us to a small desk Not great at all

Miller and Carter restaurant very busy on the Saturday night so had a 20min wait despite booking a table.
Perfect location for snooker at the Crucible. Comfortable room with everything you need for a long weekend stay.

The only negative was that the shower, toilet and sink ‘pulsed’ when the water was running/filling up; the water lost pressure on and off. It wasn’t too much of an inconvenience concerning the toilet and the sink but it was annoying when taking a shower.

Toilet paper in the room is a little on the low quality side for the standard of the rest of the room.
Breakfast was cooked to order and very tasty. Location was in the middle of city centre and very convenient to city hall and shops and bars. Bed was extremely comfortable and I slept well. Staff were very welcoming and approachable x

The cleaning staff in the morning were very loud at 9am. They were shouting across to each other, being loud and playing music loudly. I did ask them to not be so loud as guests are still in their room. They were quiet for 5 minutes and then started again so a long lie in before we left was slightly ruined.
Really welcoming check in staff, room was really spacious and super comfy.

The attitude of the staff was mixed. The welcome we received was not professional, with a girl behind the bar telling us to check in over there and then turning her back, whereas the man who checked us in, and the lady who welcomed us for breakfast were so polite. The water pressure in the shower was not secure, which meant that it ran hot and cold throughout the shower. Also, there was only one tiny window in the room, which didn’t open and the air conditioning/ heating didn’t work therefore we were unable to get the room to a desirable temperature.
Location to the centre was great and the breakfast, which was included in the price, was absolutely delicious and one of the best we’ve had! The bed was also extremely comfortable and there was all in the bedroom which we needed.

Only bit missing was wi-fi already in the rooms, although the duty manager immediately provided a dongle to resolve the issue when asked.
Well refurbished, great location, very clean and super friendly staff.

No wardrobe just a clothes rack so not many places to put clothes. Taking off 2 points for lack of Wi-Fi. Hotel has been open six months but no Wi-Fi in room or common areas. We were able to pick up Sheffield City Wi-Fi in the restaurant.
Comfortable, well-soundproofed room. Didn’t hear any noise although we faced the street. Room was lovely and clean. Shower was wonderful although water in room 20 kept stopping and starting for first 5 minutes - both from shower and tap. Service in restaurant and food was outstanding. George took great care of us. The location of the hotel is wonderful. Short walk from the station and from the bars and restaurants of the city centre. The steakhouse looks like a great place to eat, but it’s across the street from Mamas which is my favourite restaurant so we did not eat here.

My only flaw is that there was no drinking water left in the room, if there were two bottles of water it would have been ideal. Also, the pressure of the shower kept coming in bouts.
Loved it. Fantastic location! We booked for one night to see a show in The Crucible Theatre. The hotel is right beside the theatre. Also within walking distance to the train station, bars and restaurants. Room was modern, spacious and clean. Hotel exceeded my expectations and would definitely stay again if in the area.
