Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomthe hills less steep, but then the views would not have been so good.
Riber Hall Manor is a delightful house full of history and beautifully restored. It is located in a charming hamlet with stunning views. The bedroom and its own bathroom were sumptuous and very comfortable. The breakfast was first class and our hostess charming and very knowledgeable.

United StatesA little confusing upon arrival as there are multiple Riber Halls, 2 adjoining properties with same name, but got it sorted out.
Allyson was amazing, she went out of her way to make us feel comfortable, provided significant history and entertained us with stories, fed us well and made us feel special. Highlight of our 2 week trip

United KingdomVery old buildings can be idiosyncratic. Don't expect all the comforts of a modern building.
Very old manor house in a wonderful position in a tiny village. Interesting history, artefacts and furnishings. The host was attentive and helpful. She advised us how to avoid the very steep hill that other guests have commented on, so it was no problem. It was quite a cold night for May but there was a heater in the room.

United KingdomBecause this is an ancient building the stairs are a bit higgledy-piggledy so not suitable for the infirm.
As previous guests have said, the house is in a lovely quiet location and the history abounds wherever you look in this wonderful old building. It’s very clean and we loved the modern touches that go well with the old. Alison is a wonderful lady who was always available and she would ask us if we needed help with anything. Her knowledge of the area and the house is amazing and she is only too happy to share this with you. Lots for breakfast after a great nights sleep, if we’re in the area again would definitely stay here.

The historic house with some rooms dating back to the 13th century was tastefully decorated and in a beautiful rural location not too far from the attractions of the Peak District. Alison was a charming host with incredible knowledge of the history of the house.

United KingdomAlison was a fantastic host / local historian / guide. Very knowledgeable about the house. Was lovely having the history of where we staying made it extra special. The breakfast was super and again Alison the perfect host ☺️ ensuring we were fed and watered... Choice of cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruit and croissant. Teas coffees and juices. All furniture in keeping with the period of the house, and added some depth with a homely feeling. We slept really well and the peace and quiet was so relaxing. Views from house excellent and promoted by Alison we took a little (if not a bit steep) walk to view the whole of Matlock. Well worth a look. All in all fantastic night stay and one we shall be talking about for some time to come!! Thank you again Alison.

United KingdomNothing, it was a perfect stay.
Everything about our stay was perfect from the building to Allison the host. We wanted a break away from everything for my wife's 40th to rest and relax and this was the perfect place for that, it was peaceful and for the day felt like Lord and lady of the Manor. Allison was an amazing host and was so attentive to our needs. It was such a pleasure to meet someone who is so so proud of what she does with exceptional knowledge of the building and history. The hard work and effort her family have put in to restore this beautiful building is amazing, yes she owns the building but she is proud to be the custodian to share with the world. If anyone wants a get away this is the perfect place, you can shut yourself off from the world, go for beautiful scenic walks or a 10 minute drive to the charming matlock town/Bath. Highly recommend to anyone. We will certainly return Thank you Allison for an amazing stay at your home.
