How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Dirty property, extremely tired, toilet badly equipped no toilet brush which is an odd choice. Had to ask everyday at reception for coffee and sugar etc. Fire exits propped open with wedges, doors don’t close properly on most of the rooms. This means slamming the door to close it at whatever time in the morning/night that might be.

The increase in price for accommodation. The hotel should provide drinking glasses in the room in-addition tea cups. However this was provided on request.
The room was clean, and bed comfortable. Cooked breakfast was very good was excellent. The Staff greeted us with a smile, were friendly and helpful

I did call ahead to check they had rooms on a ground floor and put a request in on booking.com when booking for ground floor (due to mums mobility). When we arrived we had a room down quite a few stairs. Although mum did manage with a couple of short breaks to get her breath back, it would have been preferable on a ground floor. There was only one big towel in the room.
The property was really clean, its location was good for the hospital which is where we had to go the following day and the reason we booked it.

Continuous creaky noises from the room above Sounds like flowing taps were heard for the duration I stayed there. Though renovated, the facility is too old. It's definitely overpriced for the fee.

Room was dated. Couldn’t leave the window open because it has no security. Flooring was so loose that it creaked every time I walked in the room. I wanted to upgrade to a new and better room, but was told hotel was fully booked..

Quite a climb up to the top floor- I was fine but anyone with restricted mobility would need help with luggage. Bedside light not working- frosted windows not necessary as room on top floor- would have been nice to see the view! No hot breakfast on 2nd day due to busy breakfast room.
The room was clean and the bathroom was spacious and up to date. The staff were very helpful and arranged a storage room for my bicycle.

Controls on shower not working too well - water a little too hot! Reported to staff before departure. Description stated that the en-suite was a wet-room, when actually it was a standard bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Big comfortable room, lots of space and all expected facilities - tea/coffe, tv, wifi. Huge comfy bed. Decor a little dated, but all very clean. Very good breakfast with everything as expected.

Parking was a bit pricey, and quite a squeeze! The whole place could do with a lick of paint, and some of the decor and furnishings seem a bit tired. Breakfast was in the basement, reached by a flight of stairs.
All staff were very helpful and friendly. Good location. Nice cooked breakfast. Warm room, tea/coffee/biscuits provided. Good shower and well-fitted bathroom. Easy access ground floor room. Quiet and convenient. We will be back.

The downstairs bar wasn’t open when we arrived back in the evening, around 10/10:30pm.
Only stayed for 1 night but was happy with the hotel, staff were polite and friendly. Enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. Pleasant stay.

The bathroom was ridiculously small, my husband is disabled and has very small shoulders, hi could not use the toilet, he had to go down the corridor to the communal toilets.
