Walls were a bit thin, snoring man next door woke me up early but I am a light sleeper. Both soap dispensers were empty in my room.

Clean, comfortable room, bonus having a shower which was not expected. Near to railway station, plenty of EV chargers in the area

Room needs a make over pretty soon! Wallpaper hanging off the ceiling, shower curtain disgusting at the bottom where it meets the water in the bath tub. Just needs freshening and updating.

the other guests were a little bit noisy when trying to creep around at night. This did not keep me awake though.

The room was well heated and did not feel cold at all during my stay. Staff were polite and helped with any problems. Toilet was shared with other rooms but was kept clean. Room above a Pub but their was no noise. Bar food at night and breakfast in the mornings was all good. The location was within walking distance of Watford Junction Station. I am already planning my next visit to Watford and The Southern Cross will be top of my list for accommodation. Well done ++++

I couldnt tell if it was a member of staff ro a customer but late at night / early hours of the morning a car decided on the car park to the south cross to rev its engine and loud exhaust while four vans made loads of noise shouting. the key to the front door didnt work so at one point i got locked out the building and had to wait for a smoker to come out so i could get back inside. There will be noise if not from the car park the guests below you. the room doesn't have a toilet so as you can imagine waking up in the middle of the night needing to pee and you have to walk all the way to the other side of the building isnt fun. Also it means being greeted by a mess as you share it with other inconsiderate guests leaving a mess or not flushing. There are a lot of stairs to get up if you have heavy luggage.

what a difference a revamp can make! the rooms look great much better. I stayed here before they decorated and in the same room so to return and see it now really shows the effort they have put in to it. Bed was great, pillow and blankets good, table solid with tea and coffee and good lighting and omg they have a plug socket by the bed! good size sink in the room and a shower also which was hot worked really well. good temperature in the room didnt get to hot and there is parking. Tasty food and desert the stake was very nice and not to far from the town. Good wifi and pretty good rate to stay a few days for work.

Bathroom door didn't close or lock, felt quite grotty, wallpaper hanging from ceiling, bath was scratched, didn't seem to be a way to contact anyone. Key deposit box had no lock so anyone could have accessed the keys. We had to go into the pub to check in and they kept asking for ID for my 11yr old son. I only wanted to check in and get to my room.

Location, price . No frills accommodation, OK if you're not planning on spending much time in the room and just need a base.

As a feminine female I am not much of a fan of dark grey, a lack of colour or dark colours generally, but white bed linen and towelling was much appreciated.

It was lovely to have everything you needed within the room (shared lavatory excluded). There was a good shower, small and large shower heads in situ, and outside switch combining damp extraction and light. If a good body soak was needed, there was also a shared bath at the end of the corridor. A single bed ensured best value for money for a single stay. Similarly the room size was compact but adequate. Black-out curtains, comfortable mattress and pillow ensured a good night's sleep. The wall-mounted television was much appreciated, as was the kettle, hot drink provision, good clothes' hanging area and an off-the-floor support for the packing case. I liked the separate entrance for residents rather than entering/exiting via the bar area.

Our only complaint was that someone had thrown rubbish out of the window onto a roof/ledge outside. It disgusted us and I have reported it so hopefully it has been removed.

By and large the Southern Cross Pub stay was fine. Mainly it was convenient for visiting family and places nearby. The receptionist/bar staff were super efficient and very pleasant. The breakfast was good.

I would of preferred a toilet in the room rather than a shower, but our room was right next door to the bathroom so it wasn’t much of an issue, room was quite warm

No toilet in the room, but we were next door to the bathroom so not much of an issue. Shower was a little under powered and a bit tired looking. But for the money we paid it was perfectly adequate.

Great location, 5 min walk from Watford Junction train station (direct 20 min train to euston). Decent food offering with good offers on food and drink. Friendly staff who helped with anything we asked. Will definitely use again for London trips.

Fantastic location in town. Comfy, clean rooms. The pub downstairs had excellent food and great entertainment. We stayed overnight prior to going to the Harry Potter Studios Tour - which was an easy 5 minute drive away.

It's a pub with rooms, so it is what it is and I was happy and comfortable with my choice.

Central to Watford which is where I wanted to be. It's Graduation week so thankful that I booked well in advance.

Being an older building there are squeaky floorboards and being a light sleeper, I could hear noise (e.g. snoring) from next room. For people who sleep well, neither of these likely to be an issue. Be warned - if you want breakfast it's not available while 10 a.m.!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good evening meals at a good price. Shower and wash basin in room, along with a good sized desk and accompanying chair.
