Hotel phoned us to book a table in the restaurant, but did not make us aware bar food was available! The restaurant food was good, but portions not really suitable when you have been cycling all day !

The high humidity in the room. No air movement in the room. Had to open the screen less window to let air in.

The building is getting a bit tired

Characterful hotel in a brilliant location. Excellent meals in a modern restaurant with panoramic views over the sea. Very convenient for touring or for the Arran or Islay ferries.

I love everything about Stonefield from the warmest of welcomes to the lovely atmosphere throughout. One of my favourite stop offs with my dog.

Only possible constructive criticism is that the restaurant area, which was added in the 70's, looks it design wise. However, it offers fabulous views of the loch and I'm not sure how you could update it without changing that.

Unbelievable. Booking description and pictures do not do it justice. Had 4 multiple night stays booked during a two week trip and this was easily the best and one of the better values.

The menu choice at dinner was limited compared to our last stay. Also the quality of the food wasn’t as good.

Parking lines would be helpful another 4 or 5 cars would fit in the lot if they weren’t parked 6’ apart, but that’s nitpicking we were always able to find a spot.

It’s a wonderful old castle converted into a hotel perched overlooking the bay. It’s a bit dated but the rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious with a private bathroom and shower. We were on the first floor which was wonderful after lugging suitcases up spiral staircases and down narrow hallways. The staff were all very nice and the lady at the front desk was incredibly nice and helpful, she took time to answer all our questions and offer advice. The restaurant in the hotel has huge windows all the way around with fabulous views but the food was pricey. There is also a full bar, library and sitting room. Other activities include paths around the grounds and to Barmore Island. This is a great place to stay if you’re looking for a unique experience.

A lovely setting and I was upgraded to the best room in the place with great views and a recently fitted bathroom containing a lovely free standing tub as well as a good walk in shower. King bed was very comfortable but the pillows could have been a little softer. Robes provided and good tea making facilities. Dinner package was taken and the limited dishes were tasty but I thought the venison was a little over cooked. Staff were all lovely specially the gentleman from Canberra who had good wit and style! Very quiet location so sleep was good.

No pink prosecco. Went for a pre dinner drink 19:45, Got a drink 20:45 with our main course. Why serve orange kippers when you have such a good source locally. 30 Pounds isn't much towards the meal for full board, considering most main courses alone are over this price. I would have been stuck for choice from menu if staying for more than two nights.

Food on first night was excellent. Venison) Bar menu and service was superb. Loved afternoon tea and scones. Views and weather were just sublime. Don't believe it was 25 years since we got married at the castle

Unfortunately our meal was disappointing as the langoustines were inedible and venison dish expensive and cold. Usually dining in Stonefield is very good. This our 6th visit and hopefully this was just a blip.

The accommodation was lovely and staff were excellent. And the location is stunning.
