Nothing - excellent hotel, excellent stay, and excellent staff

Our stay at The Bloomsbury Hotel was for a special London trip, we got Engaged at the hotel. The hotel staff arranged an excellent display in the room for the proposal, and went above and beyond to ensure our special day, and stay was as excellent as it could be. The hotel is brilliantly located inside Bloomsbury, hidden off the main road, absolutely hidden from the sounds of London once inside. Confused why this hotel has an official 4* rating, because the experience inside is as 5* as it gets and does not disappoint! We will be returning to The Bloomsbury Hotel for our future anniversaries and London trips!

On the Sunday afternoon I was meeting a friend from drinks. The hostess at the terrace restaurant informed me that the tables outside were reserved for food at it was already really busy of course not a problem, she kindly showed me to a seat at the indoor bar. I was soon approached by another hostess asking me if i have a reservation, I replied no. She then rudely said "what, so you just sat down then?" I said "no your colleague outside showed me to the table" she said "oh its just so I can put it in the system" and pointed at an Ipad. I then ordered a glass of wine. The waitress (a different lady) rudely said "I'm not being funny but how old are you?" I am a 30 year old woman so I didn't appreciate being asked how old I am. If she genuinely did think I looked under 18 I think there are more professional ways to verify I am of legal drinking age like simply saying "may I see some ID" please encourage your bar/restaurant staff to be a little more courteous. There was an engagement party sat behind me and I overheard them saying complaining about the same waitress.

Great location, decor is lovely in common areas. Reception/check in staff were very personable and professional. The doormen/bell boys greeted me warmly by name everyday and made me feel like a VIP. They were always smiling and extremely helpful.

Step just inside room. No good to have a warning inside room when arriving for the first time. I am 76 a day daughter was recovering from surgery on her arm.

The room was so small it was hard to move around. I respect the use of glass bottles instead of plastic, but the noise made from the maids emptying them in the hallways at all hours was very noisy and disturbing.

The location was excelllent and easy to get about the city from. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

The room was a bit small and facing a tiny closed courtyard so you could see into another room on the other side and therefore needed curtains down all the time. It was not possible to open the window more than 3 cm. I am someone who likes a bit of fresh air.

The hotel decor was lovely. There is a great bar. All was spotless clean and the staff were super friendly.

Simply wonderful staff, so attentive, engaging and human. You can see they are genuinely happy and that this is not just "going through then motions" for the guests. The hotel is beautiful too. The Dalloway Terrace is perfect. the Coral Room is special. Amazing and professional level of aftercare from Marta in guest relations also.

The room we were in was next to the lifts and although it didnt bother me, it did my friend. However when we told the staff they could not do enough for us to move us and even though we downsized on the size of the room we were given free cocktails and breakfast to make up for it.

The breakfast was exceptional. Staff were very friendly and remembered our names. Food was very flavoursome and so many choices. Breakfast room very bright airy and comfortable.

My short legs had issues with the high up tub/shower. They have the tiny bottles of shower gel instead of the wall mounted pumps. In our last room, 411, there is a unexpected step up into the room. It is a trip hazard near the bathroom door. I did fall on it once, but was not hurt. My room the week before did not have it.

The staff was great. They greeted us every time we arrived back. They lugged our luggage up the steps. They are ready to get you a cab or give directions. The Coral Bar is a great place to have drinks and hang out. The lobby fire room was a great spot to meet up with people. The Terrace Restaurant was wonderful when we ate in rather than dining out.
