How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Overnight stop on the way back from the ferry. Great carvery! Big secure car park for motorcycles.

Room was a little shabby
Access to Toby Carvery for evening meal and breakfast which were excellent meals. Also the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The rooms were a little warm but a fan was provided in the room which was appreciated.
Great location for days out to Paignton and Dawlish. Family room was comfortable with a lovely big bathroom and was spotlessly clean. Reception were very helpful. The later check in hours were convenient for us and a 12pm check out meant a nice lazy morning before departure. Breakfast at the Toby was very nice. Would definitely stay again.

Cleaning was kind of a joke after initial check in. Some days nothing, one day some guy came before 10 randomly (no one came close to that time on any other day so super inconsistent) and didn't come back again when asked to please give us a hour. All the cleaning staff would knock once (very light) and then just enter immediately after the short rap. Cleaning was haphazard, like someone was picking one different part of the room to clean everyday, won't change sheets even with stains until I had to ask even though we were there 10 days. Just really lucky it was so clean at the start.
Really clean when we first got there, felt comfortable right away. Nice bathroom with towel warming rail, forgot to take pictures. Tea, coffee and daily Biscoff. Nice to have a restaurant on the premises I guess though we only went once and didn't like it enough to go back. Right by a bus stop and short path to train station. I suspect it may be best to get the larger room option because I noticed most of the worst comments were from people in smaller rooms so maybe those are older/less well maintained.

The main thing that let this hotel down was the beds were so hard and uncomfortable, I suffer from back pain and didn't sleep well at all.
Location good for our needs, staff friendly, breakfast was good

Bit tired and dated decor. Bathroom drains smelled bad, woken by pipes clicking (central heating?)at 5.30am!
Easy to find, quiet location, lots of parking. Good value.

the carvery was exceptionally busy due to a kids for £1 offer -insufficient staff to cope with the demand.

Staff were not obvious at the breakfast so had to find them to get fruit juice and cutlery.

One of our rooms (205) had a strange damp smell to it that wouldn’t shift. It’s definitely only this room though as we had room 204 too and that was absolutely fine. Lack of staff around to help. I had to hunt someone down to check in and there was no real customer service at all from the man who eventually came to help.
Location wise it suited us perfectly. Ground floor rooms were super easy for our kids too.

Easy location, great size room, very clean and comfortable and much quieter than expected with free parking. Breakfast served at a reasonable time and the breakfast food was better quality than expected. Staff all very friendly. Would happily stay again
