Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis was an amazing retreat from the city. The place had all the features of a cozy and romantic English countryside cottage. They had amazing breakfast, and great selection of cakes each day. The owners were a lovely couple and helped us navigate our way through the Peak District.

GermanyWe didn’t know our room’s bathroom wasn’t en-suite, but the others were. However, the bathroom we had some access to was really big and beautiful.

United KingdomTo be honest we couldn't find anything to dislike at the B & B.
Breakfast choices were plentiful, and cooked perfectly. Home made cake on arrival was amazing, a very warm and cosy environment. Anna was very friendly and accommodated for all our needs , Nothing was too much trouble and if you had forgotten anything you would more than likely find it hiding somewhere in your room!

United KingdomNothing worth mentioning, as any request or query was dealt with immediately.
Fabulous location, accommodation & hosts. For Annie & Adam nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent, very quiet with a comfy bed and tea/coffee making facilities (& fridge) which suited us perfectly. The breakfast was fabulous, so much so that we didn't eat again until the evening. We hope to revisit the area and if we do we will certainly stay in the Hollow again. Highly recommended.

United StatesThere is nothing to dislike if you want some time walking in The Peak District. Great location.
Excellent location. Ian and Anna are excellent hosts. They do everything to achieve an excellent experience for their guests. Rooms and facilities are extremely comfortable. We've stayed at 3 different places on our road trip north and hands down The Hollow is the most comfortable of all. Great breakfast as well! Highly recommended.

United KingdomWe very rarely stay in B & Bs so don’t know if this is usual, but timings were quite restrictive. Check-in at 4pm is quite late, earliest breakfast is 8:30am which is quite late as well.
Very spacious room (room 3) with a beautiful view. Extremely clean and well furnished. Cot set up as requested (which hasn’t always happened on our travels). Good location with three excellent pubs, with food, within easy walking distance (one right across the road). Decent walking right on the doorstep. Breakfast was high quality.

United KingdomHad to go home to our own house.
Anna and Ian were great hosts and felt at home the minute we arrived. The view from the bedroom was beautiful and was a privilege to see all the wildlife in a beautiful garden. From you walked in the door little things like the cake and fruit left for us. To the wonderful breakfast. Lovely and will definitely be back.

FranceVery limited / transactional interactions with our host, which somehow damages the whole B&B experience as we are used to enjoy it. I wished we had a bit more connection and advices on how to best discover this beautiful region, but we ended up being quite left to ourselves.
- Beautiful old house in a traditional village full of charms, perfectly located at the heart of the Peak District, less than 30 mn away from all major locations - Room is very cosy and comfortable, perfectly cleaned every day, with beautiful view on the garden and countryside - Breakfast was amazing, with a large selection of delicious meals made to order Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at The Hollow !

United KingdomOur bedroom overlooked the garden with views beyond. Our room was spacious, comfortable king size bed and everything thoughtfully provided for, including a small fridge with milk and bottled water. The separate bathroom, for our sole use, was flooded with light, the modern shower and tasteful fittings all adequate. All shower necessities with fluffy white towels and lightweight dressing gowns provided. Our breakfast was cooked to perfection with freshly laid eggs, local produce and jams/marmalade’s made by our host. We cannot thank our hosts enough for making our stay so relaxing. Anna, we have taken away, as we mentioned, so many ideas from your beautiful home! The freshly made cake with the warm welcome on our arrival and available on our return every day was so appreciated. We certainly will be recommending your excellent accommodation to anyone we know that will be coming your way. Idyllic in every way, “Thank you”
