Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom was a bit cramped, toilet wobbled, shower doors didn't shut properly and sink had no plug. It was also a bit noisy before last orders but to be honest, I've paid twice as much and had a worse experience.
Breakfast was great, excellent value for money, staff were great, couldn't have been more helpful

HungaryLocation is easily accessible by foot from the station however buses do not come around often. On a longer stay, it may be inconvenient to walk 20 mins to the city centre and not be able to pop back in for your belongings during sightseeing.
Small but well equipped room, ideal for 1-2 people. They had instant coffee, tea bags and a kettle ready in the room. Check-in was quick and simple, they only took the booking fee from my bank acount upon arrival. Staff was welcoming. When I was leaving I asked for a couple of hashbrowns to take out. Eventhough these were not separate items on their breakfast menu, a lovely lady quickly prepared me some free of charge.

United KingdomThe pub itself was fine, but the absence of anywhere to get food - the Chienese across the road was always shut, and the two local shops are rubbish - was a bit of a pain. I arrived by bike so don't know how parking would be, as it's a residential neighbourhod.
The Leaman Rose is a friendly pub outside York centre. The facilities are fine for the money - comfortable bed, shower that worked, kettle and coffee, a table to work and eat, TV with (only) NowTV, radiator I could adjust.

United KingdomIt was let down by what seems to be a lack of organisation or professionalism. We were advised cereal and milk would be in the fridge on a morning, but this never arrived, and we didn't get our breakfast on the last morning as no one was around, possibly still in bed from the night before, as we'd been able to hear them til the early hours. I'm not a clean freak, so wasn't offended that the place wasn't spotless, but this may put some off. Overall, a mixed bag. Shame that the positives are let down by the negatives.
On the most part we loved the Leeman Rose. It was a lovely venue, with a really relaxed, comfortable feel. The staff were very helpful when we had a mishap on the way, and arrived quite stressed, but they went out of their way to make us comfortable and help us. The bed and pillows were really comfortable, and the shower worked well. My son loved being able to watch the trains at a distance from our window. The breakfast was super tasty, and the latte was one of the best I've had.

United KingdomViews from the room were of peoples gardens/homes. I would suggest two pillows to each side of the bed but as I was travelling alone this was not an issue. Basic room for a good price so would stay again
Cheap room close to the centre of York with free parking. You get what you pay for. Staff were really friendly. Yes there is some noise but it’s expected being above a pub, the noise did not affect my sleep. Rooms and the en-suite were clean. Ironing facilities, cutlery and cereal were provided. Cooked breakfast was offered at a good price. Will stay again!

United KingdomCups in room a bit dirty and there weren't enough towels. When one requested, it was also dirty. Check-in in bar was a bit awkward as the locals had clearly been drinking a while, but it was fine.
The breakfast was really good and staff members extremely pleasant and friendly, especially the lady making breakfast. Room fine, but small. En suite clean.

United KingdomThe bar could do with some gin glasses. But the accommodation was fine and clean which is most important.
It was only 15 mins walk along the river to the centre of York so the location was good. The locals in the pub made us feel really welcome. The room was quiet and we had everything we needed. The hosts were very friendly and the facilities were what we needed.

CanadaThe sheets had some marks, the bathroom smelled of urine and cigarettes and axe deodorant. The room was small and hard to maneuver as two people. A ghost named Paul visited in the night which was a bit alarming. 30 minute walk into the city centre felt a bit long.
The breakfast was great but wasn’t included in the price. Staff was friendly. The locking system to get in felt very secure. Liked that we could open the window and enjoyed the scenic walk even if it was long.
