Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe desk was extremely sticky and the metal coating would come off on whatever I set on it. Maybe put a new desk in there or cover the top with something so it can be used? The bed was extremely squeaky and uncomfortable. Could use an update!
Location was amazing, staff were very friendly, everything was clean

United KingdomFriday night was very noisy in HighStreet and a woman’s voice below my room 6 spoke in a loud voice till gone 3a.m. Also when I asked in the Bar about leaving my rucksack post my departure- wanting to spend time by Cathedral till my train left - it was a curt NO!!
Central situation

United KingdomThe only potential downside would be noise. But it's above a city centre pub, so a bit of late night noise should be expected. The Turk's Head, in fact, embraces its pubiness and even supplies ear defenders and masks.
Great value and excellent rooms, very well equipped with everything you'd need.

United KingdomIf I was being picky, I felt the bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner around the edges, but it certainly didn't ruin our stay!
Great value, comfortable cosy room (not in a small way - surprised at the size of it!) with a Nespresso coffee machine and decent teas plus bottled water. Lovely Rituals toiletries, really comfortable bed, fab shower and a brilliant hairdryer. Also an iron and ironing board too. We liked that the rooms had a separate external entrance to the pub so we could come and go as we wanted. Staff helpful and friendly. Could not beat its position in the centre of Exeter. Our son has just moved down but no room to stay at his place so this will be our go-to stopover when we visit!

United KingdomA bit noisy but they did make that clear. It didn't really cause a problem. The shower did spray over the bathroom!
Lovely old building right in the city centre. Attached to a pub with microbrewery. The room was clean and comfortable. Nice to have a coffee machine. Cleaned every day.

United KingdomWas on top floor, 53 steps a little much! Could use a small shelf in shower enclosure, no natural light in bathroom.
Comfortable, peaceful, great location. Shower fabulous. Big room, lots of space.

United KingdomOur only complaint was that there was no milk!Sadly didn’t realise until this morning and the bar wasn’t yet open. Small problem with the shower which is excellent but could do with a full screen as it’s hard it not to soak the floor.
Staff were very courteous and helpful. The room was very clean and well equipped with almost everything you might need including a real coffee machine. Very comfortable bed. Thoughtfully provided ear plugs and an eye mask as pub is on the high street. We didn’t need them as the secondary double glazing is ok.

United KingdomWouldn't be suitable for mobility issues. Narrow steep staircases (historic), sloping flooring (not by bed, where important 😀)
Lovely room in the centre of Exeter. Next to the pub, which does great food and drink, but can't hear it from room. Unbelievable value, lovely decor, nice shower room. Parked by the cathedral which does overnight parking, quite close.

United KingdomThe bathroom had a slight damp smell when I arrived, but it easily dissipated after I'd had the windows open for a few minutes. There was very minor noise from the street/bar but that's to be expected given it's location and they had provided ear plugs.
I was unexpectedly upgraded from their cheapest room to a room with an ensuite, and shown around by a very friendly staff member. The room was very clean and nicely presented, the shower had great pressure and the coffee machine was a treat. The room was very comfortable with everything I needed while still keeping in character of the building. The rooms have a separate entrance from the bar so you needn't walk through it if you didn't want to but they do have an excellent selection of beer brewed on site....

United KingdomEverything was spot on.
The room was spotless and very nicely decorated, I appreciate the little touches as a welcome handwritten note... It was a surprise to find out that we were upgraded before arrival with no extra charge and we've had an excellent time. The location is ideal to explore the city, located right in the city centre. Customer service was excellent. I would definitely recommend the location!
