How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Said that there was parking did not mention until later after booking that is was payable. There was no parking spaces

At night it was noisy outside in the town centre. On the first night I got woken up at 2am by a couple having an argument outside.
The room was very comfy and clean. It was spacious for a single room with a comfy bed and a large bathroom. A great range of options were available at the breakfast buffet and the view was great from the 5th floor terrace. The hotel was right in the centre of Harrogate opposite Betty's Tea room and only a 5 minute walk from the train and bus station.

Excellent location, right in the heart of Harrogate. The staff dealt with a small problem in our first room very efficiently and effectively. All staff were friendly and approachable. The rooms were comfortable and spacious and breakfast was varied and delicious! We had a great stay.

Our room was up a strange network of weaving stairs accessible only by the stairs (no lift). It was OK for us as we are quite fit and only had small bags but someone less mobile or with large bags might struggle. Reception warned us that there was no lift access but didn't offer up any assistance with bags. There seemed to be a dozen or so rooms up that way, so worth checking at the time of booking if you need/want lift access.
Nicely renovated hotel, closed to the centre of town. Great restaurant and bar.

One of the lifts only holding 2 people was a little inconvenient in such a big hotel.

No handrail to help in/out of bath. Made it very awkward esp as we are now older. Bar closed early, and felt uncomfortable asking for a drink

Parking is very limited, expensive and tightly packed. My car was damaged from the adjacent vehicle during my stay.

The bed was a bit lumpy and the pillows were hard. Having said that, I slept really well.
Loved the hotel! The location was brilliant! Everything on your doorstep. I was extremely happy with my stay at the Yorkshire hotel. I only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer.

The shower was terrible, this seems to be the same for all the hotel rooms so investment in to making them more powerful is a must. The pillows were quite hard so could be time to replace them. Breakfast was mediocre, I had expected it to be on par with a Hilton buffet breakfast but it wasn’t, the food had been left out for a long time the continental selection wasn’t good and the plates and glasses hadn’t been washed properly.
Beautiful decor in the lounge and bar area and great location and the room was clean and inviting.

Receptionist on first arrival not professional. Water pressure in the shower was very poor

Rather dirty windows. Maybe net curtains could conceal them if they are not accessible for cleaning. The carpet in the breakfast room looked as if it was stained with ketchup. I realise this was the pattern, but it was hideous!
Location, breakfast, bathroom with heated towel rail and good modern fittings. We were tired and we appreciated the flexibility of the restaurant staff to fit with our wishes.

Initial room on arrival was not ideal due to noise and no bath, but was fine when moved. Had to keep getting room card programmed every afternoon during stay, which was a little annoying.
The room and bathroom was a good size, Fresh and clean. Breakfast was excellent.

I selected the hotel because it had a lift but the room we were given was up a steep flight of stairs. We have stayed here before and I dont like the decor of the dining room - it feels dark and dull so we always eat outside the hotel. We got a lift because of the parking fee

We had superior rooms However the very large bathroom was empty Large walk in shower but no shelving or vanity surfaces throughout Very bare empty walls in bathroom made the space cold and unwelcoming Very few mirrors No full length mirror No interior design so disappointing not as expected compared to the beautiful contemporary downstairs decor

Nice central base and car parking available which is a bonus. Staff very helpful. Only small problem was the water pressure in the shower.
