Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI haven’t used the launderette, so I cannot comment on that.
Norma is a wonderful hostess. She is so friendly and helpful and always has the residents’ best interests in mind. Along with her staff, the Westbourne Lodge gives a homey vibe to travellers, especially to long time solo travellers who are homesick. Norma welcomed me at the door when I arrived, and has been so helpful during my stay. Norma’s kitchen is spacious and very well equipped, full of electrical appliances you can name. There is a lovely garden in the Lodge as well, where you can spend a great time with yourself and your dog if you have one. The Lodge is well located in a quiet neighbourhood. I could hear bird songs all day long. There is a big window in my room with a nice view of the greenery nearby. It is close to bus stops where you can travel to different areas of the city easily. I cannot speak enough about the good things about Norma and the Lodge.

CanadaThe owner and the staff at this Lodge were amazing always asking if everything was okay if we needed something. They arranged for a cab when we needed one no problem at all. Beds were comfy room was large. We booked 5 weeks before we travelled so unfortunately no main floor room was available there is no lift so if mobility is a problem might not be for you. Ask them tho if they have it they will do what they can for you.

United KingdomThe coin-operated laundry facilities were not good. I wish I'd used a launderette instead; it certainly would have been cheaper and more controllable.
The location was ideal. Very close to frequent bus routes but off the main road enough to make it quieter. The host, Norma, was absolutely lovely; as were the others I met in my two week stay. The room was nice and warm and the shower was ok. The bed was comfortable.

United KingdomI was under the impression that there would be breakfast. This may well have been that I misunderstood as I booked in hurry. So could be my mistake. However there were excellent shared facilities to be able to self cater. The welcome was warm and caring.

United KingdomThat I had to leave! I could of easily have lived here.
Norma and the crew are incredibly hospitable, friendly and welcoming. An unassuming lodge of great quality filled with a family-like atmosphere and a warm, homely vibe. I loved my time at Normas. There's also a beautiful, big garden, which is very well kept.

NetherlandsAlthough stated on booking.com Westbourne Lodge is not a bed&breakfast (anymore), as guests must provide their own breakfast. However, there is a well equipped kitchen, with enough space in the fridge to store your own food (supermarket is only a 5 minute walk away), shared with the other guests, and a comfy dining room/lounge. Tea and coffee are always available, free of charge.
Very nice hotel with a lovely owner/hostess. Our room was spacious with two comfortable chairs, and the bathroom was modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable too, and there was parking space for several cars in front of the lodge. You can make tea and coffee (provided by the hostess) with an electric kettle in the room, and there's also a mini-fridge. We had a very nice stay here.

KenyaWestbourne Lodge experience was great for me. It was relaxing, calm and serene. I enjoyed having outdoor space at the garden and a large kitchen to cook my meals. I also enjoyed the great company of the host's family, helpful housekeepers and relaxed fellow lodgers. The place was clean and my room was large with all the amenities I needed including welcome tea, coffee and milk throughout my stay (very nice). I enjoyed the large bath and spacious bathroom. I was able access a good number locations near me like the University of Birmingham, The Botanical Gardens, and High Street among others. I look forward to my next stay at Westbourne Lodge when my travels take me back to Birmingham.

United KingdomNeeded a more comfortable desk chair as I spent quite a long time sitting at the desk using my laptop each night. Everything else was perfect!
Would highly recommend this place to any female single traveller. Everyone I saw that was staying there was really polite and friendly, I felt completely at ease being there on my own. Norma goes out of her way to make sure you are happy and will accommodate you as much as she can. My room was at the back looking out to the garden, nice and quiet. Fabulous large garden with lots of seating.

United KingdomThe decor of the room I stayed in was a little dated and could use some fresh coats of paint and I noticed that the paint on the wall against which the bed's headboard was against, had chipped away and it was so obvious. It would also be useful to have blinds on the windows for more privacy because, once you open the curtains, there was no privacy from passers but or people in the houses opposite. All that said, the room was comfortable and clean and I would defo stay there again.
I loved the homely feel of the place. The lady who ran it, Norma, was friendly and very welcoming and had a relaxed personality which in return, made me feel relaxed. I had an instant feeling of 'am going to like this place' when I entered the hotel. I loved the fact that you could just bring your own ingredients to cook yourself some food, what ever you wanted. A good sized kitchen which was well equipped was a helpful thing to have. The place was very clean and tidy. It was a nice touch that hot water bottles were provided, in case. (I've stayed in many hotels both in the UK and abroad, and it's the first time I've ever seen a hotel provide hot water bottles for guests. Lovely touch and I certainly appreciated and used it!

United KingdomThe headboard in my room needs some TLC. No curtains or blinds in the room this would be okay if you're at the back of the property.
Hidden gem, don't let the outside fool you. This is a well kept property, it boasts great sized well equipped rooms, with fresh linen , flannel, and ampul toiletries. Norma is a great host and very accommodating, thank you for the free upgrade. The communal spaces are fantastic, a well equipped kitchen is available, the dining room leads into a well groomed garden where I drank my coffee while listening to the birds chirping, there is also an additional sitting room.. If you are planning a longer stay there are payable laundry facilities on site Love the free parking, the location has great bus links, there are restaurants and supermarkets in walking distance.
