Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe location was a bit further from the centre than anticipated. To get to the part of yogya with more restaurants or to go to places like the Keraton a taxi is necessary.
The staff was very friendly, they helped us arrange a trip to the Borobudur with the sunrise at Punthuk Setumbu. More than enough choices for breakfast. The food on the menu is very tasty as well. We also used the gym and the pool, both were nice.

IndiaCould be more generous with quality and quantity of Tea, Coffee, Complimentary water in the rooms. Breakfast could offer more options of continental dishes.
Great boutique hotel, with artistic and aesthetic interiors. Hotel has made the best of its space and organic growth with multiple wings, a courtyard functioning as restaurant extension, central fountain, beautiful swimming pool and decorative pieces all around corridors showcasing local culture. Close to railway station and not to far from the heart of Yogyakarta town, it has everhelping and courteous staff. The hotel has some good history of special guests like ambassadors, political leaders, etc of around the world who have stayed at the suites here.

United StatesThe hotel is older. Our room was small looking over a gas station. The bathroom was tiny. No special treats or amenities. I'm not sure why this is considered a 5 star hotel.
The location was great - close to Marlioboro Street which is what we were looking for. Good variety of food at breakfast.

United StatesThere isn’t much in walking distance. But that’s Jogja. You need to get a taxi or ride to other sights and events. The staff is great about arranging it all.
Beautiful hotel with charm and history. Staff were very friendly and kind. Restaurant and bar were excellent.

United KingdomParts of the bathroom starting to become a bit dated but understandable given an old hotel. Overall kept in great condition.
Beautiful colonial architecture, kept really well. Nice pool in courtyard just a pleasure to be in, didn’t want to leave. Location very central, short walk from Malioboro.

IndonesiaNo so big pool
It has museum, hotel within museum or museum within hotel? Just like to see the architecture and ancient stuff in almost whole building. Good breakfast with various food. Clean, neat and spacious room with balcony. I even had delicious a jar of butter cookies at room table as welcome (love to buy the tea set in the room). Location is near to main train station and the famous street Malioboro. All staff were giving excellent and friendly welcome, being museum tour guide, explaining everything about the hotel history. Front desk staff welcoming me very warm dan gave some friendly chat during my check out. I will recommend this hotel to my family, relatives, colleagues and friends.

RomaniaPrice/quality could have been better. I believe they are expensive because there are only a handful of 5 star hotels in Yogyakarta. Although I believe they deserve their stars, compared to some other hotels in Indonesia I would reconsider paying 80 euros/night.
The staff is extremely helpful and attentive. The hotel is beautiful and it is well maintained. Our room was nice - nothing to write home about but clean and well equipped.

CanadaNot enough variety in breakfast options and our room was a long way (outside) from the reception area. Also, the restaurant is set up so that it is open plan with the outside, however, this means that the smokers can pollute everyone's air - inside, outside, poolside! Why should non-smokers be relegated to a small room next to the kitchen with no AC?
The staff were very pleasant and the external appearance of the hotel is very nice. It is an historic building but our room was a very long way from reception. The food was OK, but the lighting in the bathroom was inadequate and the bed was uncomfortable.
