Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThis hotel is exquisite. Rooms were beautiful, super clean and the all access, well stocked fridge and snack bar were awesome and included in the rate. Beds were so comfortable and the staff did a beautiful job making our rooms brand new and well stocked each day. Towels were luxurious. The included continental breakfast was never a disappointment. This is a served breakfast, not a buffet. Fresh squeezed OJ, bread service, fruit service complete with yogurt, honey and granola, eggs and fresh blue corn tortillas were all provided with the immaculate attention of the staff, lead by Victor who greeted us by our names the first day and remembered our drink preferences. The Alest has a car that you can make arrangements for use. It’s a nice SUV that uses its AC (Ubers never do here) and is spacious if you are traveling with 4 (Ubers here run on the small side, even it you order an XL). The property is gorgeous and located withing walking distances of the best restaurants and shopping. Our expectations were exceeded and we will return.

United Arab EmiratesThere should be a permanent seating arrangement outside. Maybe a bench or a couple of seats that cannot be stolen. Removing all tables and seats before 11pm is a pity

FranceNothing really except the very draconian rules about what is or isn’t included in the breakfast. It’s not at all in line with the standing of the hotel and reflects badly/is cheap. Fir example, only a certain type of coffee is included but for an espresso, it will cost you an extra 5 dollars (wasn’t explained to us orally before we ordered, we discovered it after the fact, and didn’t complain or refuse to pay).
Location was great. Staff was courteous and helpful. The Le Labo soap and shampoo were a very nice touch. There is also a quiet space where one could work.

United States of AmericaThe first room we were in was a little bit noisy because it was one floor up over the lobby area. We moved to a room on the street which was quieter. There was some confusion about change, but eventually that was sorted out by the hotel manager.
The service was excellent. The hotel was beautifully appointed. Shout out to Victor and his team breakfast room and bar. Victor’s level of service was amazing.

United KingdomNothing!
The Alest is a happy and beautifully run hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, I didn’t want to leave! We were met by Victor and his wonderful team for breakfast every morning which was excellent & included a delicious fruit platter with yoghurt, honey and granola to accompany. Also freshly squeezed juices & very good coffee set in a lovely dining room full of natural light. Our bedroom was very clean and attended to at all times, being constantly replenished with soaps, lotions and endless little extras. The bed was unbelievably comfortable as were the pillows (very important!). We couldn’t fault a thing.

United KingdomNot much. If I was being picky, the lighting could be improved. Lots of big overhead spots or tiny low lit bedside hanging spots. Somewhere in between would be great.
Great location within Polanco. Short walk to Cuahatamec park. Lovely big airy room within a small intimate hotel. Beautifully designed, lovely extra touches, eg. gratis traditional snacks. Super helpful staff, Le labo bathroom products (big fan), spacious, again beautifully designed bathroom, excellent shower. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

United States of Americaour room was on a mezzanine level, so we were just steps above the lobby and bar, so at times it was a bit loud. the room also does not have windows that look outside, so the room was very dark and felt stuffy.
loved just about everything at the alest… most comfy beds, great decor, super friendly and attentive staff, neighborhood is quiet, yet steps away from cafes, shops and restaurants. sparkly clean!

United States of AmericaIt's nice to have a view of the city from the big hotels. However, this hotel was excellent and far superior to any of the large chain hotels. I can take in the view as I tour the city. This hotel was excellent.
The location is exceptional. It is close to everything. The staff were very helpful and pleasant from the moment I stepped out of my taxi. The atmosphere of the hotel is lovely. The room amenities were exceptional. The bath towels, the robe, the shampoo and conditioner, the toothbrush, the slippers, everything was wonderful. The shower was fantastic. The refrigerator was stocked with water, sodas, beer, and there were plenty of snacks available for the tired guest. All food items and drinks in the room were available at no extra charge. The beds and sheets were top notch. So nice, so comfortable. The room had no exterior city view. There was a window with an interior view which was fine as the pleasantness of the room and offerings more than made up for the lack of an exterior view. How much time am I spending in the room when I am on vacation, not much. I mostly want a comfortable bed and a pleasant place. The Alest is wonderful. Breakfast was included in the price of the room and if you wished you could have your breakfast brought to your room at no extra charge. Breakfast was exceptional. I ate in the lovely dining area and service was wonderful. Wonderful boutique hotel. Staff was excellent. Hotel was comfortable and inviting after a long day of touring. Check in was at 3 and check out was between 12 and 1 pm. Fantastic Place! 10/10
