The staff were a little....indifferent. Obviously, it could be a question of culture, but typically I would expect to be greeted with a smile and welcomed. I requested a one-hour extension to the check-out time via Booking.com (twice) and received no response. When I made my request in person, the hotel staff member had a quick look on their computer and decided that it wasn't possible because the hotel is 'fully booked'. Whilst that may be true, I am not sure why my request could not be honoured. A very small issue, but the attitude of the staff member made me remember it.

The hotel building and amenities are very nice and the room was much better than I thought. It was very large, had a coffee maker, a kettle, amenities, plenty of towels, large bed....everything you could want.

There was a dry bloodstain by my left foot on my side of the Queen-sized bed. It was there before we slept there that night, but it didn’t bother me as my feet didn’t reach the bloodstain

The lift was small, but sufficient for three people. Room service menu was limited.

The hotel has Mondrian themed decor. Tea and coffee in the room was good, and the room had a fridge. The room had a UK electric socket as well as several European sockets. The breakfast was excellent - buffet style with hot and cold choices. Fresh fruity water was available on reception. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Fridge wasn't super cold and no way to adjust the temperature. Location wasn't amazing for accessing Utrecht - you trade off proximity to station for proximity to local nightlife (but everything is still reasonably walkable).

Loved how spacious the room was. Table + desk + huge bathroom and room for luggage to stay open. Room was exceptionally clean and well stocked with toiletries. Close to Utrecht station making it a convenient base to travel around the Netherlands (and cheaper than staying in Amsterdam). Staff were super friendly and helpful, including bar staff. Was given complimentary ice every night upon request, and notified of surcharges if we chose to get room delivery rather than bar pickup.

The area surrounding the hotel has a waste facility, every day there were people scavenging the bins to get out bottles & cans. We witnessed drug dealing almost every time as we walked past. As there is a halfway house close to the hotel. We were never threatened by the people who were clearly showing evidence of being on drugs. Waterproof mattress protectors made it very hot & uncomfortable to sleep.

One of the lamps in my room 119 was defect. I could find hairs of other people in the bathroom and on the bed. Some of the staff were very friendly, but you also had staffmembers who seemed disinterested and bored.

I could appreciate the style of the hotel, there were also interesting books near the couches and tables where you could eat. The breakfast was really good and really liked the location.

You cannot open the windows. You can only cool down room using AC, which for me is not so comfortable, as it is not so fresh air. Also, you can only heat room using a heater that was not working. The bathroom toilet brush was missing.
