How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There was nothing we didnt like - just a few hazardous stairs outside our room and window latches sticking out in the passage. My husband fell into the stairs next to our room. There is no mind the steps or painting around the steps to warn you.
Exceptional staff, very good food from breakfast to dinner and the little treats in your room at night, brilliant location and a very serene atmosphere considering you are in a very busy city.

It’s the small, unexpected touches that make this hotel a truly wonderful find. The in house restaurant is fantastic. Really close to all the boutique & luxury shopping.

I possibly would have liked the bikes to be complimentary, but I had to think card or something I didn’t like.
The hotel was in a wonderful neighbourhood, elegant, stylish and had a very historic feel. the staff was helpful and friendly. Our room was on two levels and lovely and bright. i appreciated the Aesop products too. I also liked the lounge area with the fire. The restaurant was very good, although I didn’t get to try the Michelin star one as it was booked.

hands down best hotel I have ever stayed in. absolutely beautiful and the staff takes such care of you. they actually give you a tour of your room when you check in, greet you with a cool drink, are so kind and nice. The Dutch were my favorite! so nice and warm!!! they treat you like they really want you there!!!

Our duplex room was ok but we could hear the guests in the adjoining room talking and when their TV was on.
LOVED THE LOCATION AND THE STAFF WERE FANTASTIC, REALLY LOVELY HOTEL, THEY EVEN LEFT A BEAUTIFUL CHEESE PLATE COMPLIMENTARY FOR MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY WHICH WAS SO KIND AND BALLOONS AND A SMALL GIFT. WAS SUCH A FABULOUS SURPRISED.

Hotel was wonderful - right on a canal and the perfect location for walking everywhere. Concierge was excellent. Staff also. We enjoyed breakfast there, cocktails and dinner.

it's a tiny thing, but the bathroom light was around the corner from the bathroom, so you couldn't necessarily tell if you had turned it on or not

For the money, I think breakfast should have been included. As it was quite a pricey extra we went out instead and actually found some wonderful little places to eat. Gastrovino our top recommendation!
Fabulous location, fairly central but away from the noisy and rather shabby central district. Couple of very nice restaurants in the hotel including the Michelin starred Vinkeles, and plenty more within a 5 minute walk. Staff were super-helpful and very friendly.

A more varied menu, but that is seriously picking holes. This hotel is an incredible place to stay.
The Dylan is an amazing hotel. It's located in beautiful area of Amsterdam, and the service was amazing. On arrival we got a lovely drink and biscuits, nothing was too much trouble. Reception staff were great (especially Otto (? I may have misremembered his name, sorry) and organised massages for us, as well as helped with bags etc. The room was lovely, really spacious and clean. Michael the concierge was also super helpful. Just a wonderful stay and we would definitely recommend to anyone.
