Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandIt is far away from the centre. €20 in a taxi. Metro 15 min walk then 20 min ride. Not 2.7 ml as advertised. Pool is extra. €5 each +€5 for a cap and €3 for flip flops. I thought I was already paying extra for a hotel with a pool. The pool / spa was tiny. Looked like they managed to squeeze a swimming pool into a bedroom!! We didn't bother using it in the end. The bar is tiny, just a tiny part of reception.
Staff are lovely. Breakfast was excellent. I'm a vegan and I was happy. Room was great. We had a little mini room attached, which was great. Nice balcony. Room service excellent. Lovely meal.

PortugalVery poor breakfast, room was not very clean - dirty walls, dust and it didn’t smell good.
Good areas, nice decoration, quiet location, free parking nearby and easy access. Nice balcony but without chairs to enjoy it.

United StatesDuring our one-month trip to Europe, Porto Axis Hotel marks one of our final destinations. Not to sound like a complainer, but it's hard not to observe a common trend in the design of bathrooms across Europe in various lodging options we've seen, including this one, and many other 4-star establishments. Truly, why is there a consistent use of half glass doors in showers, which inevitably leads to bathroom flooding while showering?? Plus, be prepared to dry yourself with damp towels because the towel-hangers are inside the shower, so water splashes on them before use (so be sure to take them out prior to getting in). Finally, also be prepared to use those towels to dry the “lake” that has formed in the bathroom floors! 🙄 Ironic it seems to me, considering the notes urging guests to reuse towels for environmental conservation.
Axis Hotel is everything you can expect from a 4-star lodging. Nice breakfast (included in reservation), good ambience, contemporary decor, quite spacious room (in our case even with a balcony), comfortable beds, kind customer service. We also went to get a massage in the Spa which was an awesome treat!

United KingdomHaving a daily complimentary bottled water to drink Would Be Good since we stayed for 3 nights. But, We were told to buy bottles of water in the bar at 2.75 each . So each night after our dinner in the hotel restaurant we bought 9 bottles of water to keep hydrated.
The breakfast was very good👌 plenty to choose from. The Male Receptionists were very helpful👌. Very Good Customer Service indeed 👌.

United KingdomWe was not impressed at all with having to pay £5 to use the spa on top of £5 for slippers and £5 for a swimming hat. This seems totally unacceptable when paying to stay at a hotel and then having to pay for all of these extra's just to go swimming. The breakfast we got delivered to our room for two people and there was only one of everything, they gave us things we didn't order and didn't give us the things that we did order which was disappointing the morning before being out at a conference all day.
The hotel was lovely and clean, the dinner was amazing quality and the rooms were equipped well

United KingdomBreakfast was 10 euros for each person. Out fault for not pre-booking it which wouldve been 5 euros per person.
The staff were excellent and were able to speak clearly to us in English. The location was perfect for getting food and travel to spaces. We used Uber to get to places which were fast and cheap. The spa facilities were amazing, the only downside was that I had to pay for slippers (foam) and a cap. Lots of variety for breakfast!! Would recommend this place and will be back!!!

PortugalIndoor pool not being part of the room tariff, still understandable to guarantee it is not overrun by gests, as it is a small area (but has a little bit of everything you need to relax)
Breakfast was good and had enough vareity. Staff was friendly and helped us during our stay. Also the location is good, a calm place but close to main roads to get you anywhere quickly.

United StatesOur room’s shower door was not well sealed. But that was not a big problem in the end.
The hotel is very nice and the staff is very friendly. Dinner was very good and great value for the price. So was the breakfast. A shout out to the restaurant staff who was very welcoming, friendly and attentive to all our requests! Note that you will need a car to go around but there is parking in the hotel garage and outside.

PortugalThe buffet at the restaurant for dinner was dreadful. Food had been out too long. Cold things like salad were too warm and droopy looking. Many items had only a few pieces left. Warm food was room temperature and not appetizing. I didn't order from the menu, so I can't comment on whether the fresh food was better. Waitstaff was overworked and unfriendly. Very bad. I refused to try breakfast.
Room was excellent, clean, quiet. Staff was very welcoming. I would recommend the hotel
