Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHotel was in excellent place, however did not have car parking as suggested, this was street parking but was in an area next to a school and residential area so we managed to park around 3 streets away. The hotel was spotless and breakfast was good. Biggest drawback was the fact the hotel has solid wooden floors and the person above had either high heels or heeled boots and at 7 each morning it was clip clop clip clop over the floor, plus anything dropped was not cushioned. If a light sleeper not the best.
Hopel was in an excellent location- The breakfast was good and enough to keep you going.

South KoreaThere was no opportunity to even buy drinking water at the reception. It was necessary to wait 20 min for hot water in the shower, and then it was either hot or cold, not warm. The breakfast was very poor - no vegetables at all. Just musli and bread. And just one kind of cheese. There was nothing warm for breakfast. I have been checking out at 5.30 in the morning and although the reception was declared as 24 hours, there was nobody at the reception at that time and the door was closed with a key, so I could not go out for 10 minutes and almost missed my bus to the airport.
Location is close to the city center and to a bus stop. Also it is 15 minutes by walk from a bus station.

United KingdomCarpet(s) or at least a rug on the wood laminate flooring of our room would have been nice. The main problem was the size of the shower cubicle in the en-suite bathroom. It would surely stand as a strong contender for the smallest shower cubicle in the Guinness Book of records. My partner is small, by most people's standards, but even he had difficulty moving around within the shower in order to complete the process of showering satisfactorily. I am larger, but I did succeed fairly well, mostly by keeping my arms quite close to my sides; it was impossible to extend them. How anyone larger than myself would have coped, it is difficult to imagine. The doors of the shower cubicle opened barely sufficiently for me, and it was easiest (and less harmful) if I squeezed in sideways. The bath towels in the bathroom could have been larger, but one supposes they were adhering to the theme set by the shower cubicle. The hand basin was modern and not very deep, but not as shallow as others we have experienced. There would not have been a problem, but for the chrome 'plug' in situ in the hand basin (closed by pushing down on it, supposedly locking it into position) which did not function properly (though seemingly fully closed), and allowed the water in the basin to gradually drain away. Less than half-way through my wet shave, all the hot water had disappeared and I had to fill the basin a second time, and, usually, a third, before I was finished. If this happens in every bedroom (hopefully not), one would tentatively suggest that the hotel replaces its 'automatic' plugs in the hand basins in order to save somewhat on its overall water bill. The water itself was something of a problem. It either ran stone cold or tremendously hot. The first time I tested it, once it had finally run hot, I almost scalded myself.
The location of the Residencia is probably its finest attribute. It is situated in a pleasant square, close to the older part of Braga, through which one is able to walk (partially pedestrianised) in order to reach the centre of the town and the long avenue on which the major shops are to be found. The architecture of old Braga is interesting, with a certain character. The numerous staff that we encountered at the Residencia (there seemed a different person doing each task every day) were unanimously helpful, adopting a friendly but respectful attitude. Our room (number 23) overlooked the square at the front of the building, which afforded us a pleasant aspect, particularly since our room benefited from two of the apparent three windows at the front of the hotel, on the second floor (looking at the façade from the front in the square). The room itself was adequate enough, incorporating the advertised facilities for a small hotel of this standard (two stars). For this reason there were no tea / coffee -making facilities in the room, which was only to be expected. However, we were able to use the kettle in the breakfast room to make a cup of tea or coffee, after returning from a day out; especially welcome during our stay, since the weather was rather cold. Extra bedding was provided within the wardrobe (sorely needed), supplemented by the air-conditioning system adding warm air to the room. The en-suite bathroom was rather basic, but in-keeping with this hotel standard. No complimentary toiletries (apart from bottled soap) and no box of tissues (etc.), More about the bathroom, and particularly the shower cubicle, below. The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection of cold food, with, obviously, hot beverages (a good range), toast, etc. There was a reasonable choice of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cakes and pastries, cold meats, cheese, cereals, rolls (but only one kind of thickly sliced, white bread), marmalades, and fruit juices. Lactose-free milk was not a problem.
