How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. We were kept awake by the people in the adjoining room, no sound proofing. There were no options for tea/coffee or any refreshments on site other than breakfast.
Room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great location! Easy walk to the main shopping area and attractions.

Location somewhat far from the river.
The room is spacious, clean, comfortable bed, quiet. There is an elevator.

The smell in the hotel was unbearable. They sprayed so much air fresheners it gave me a headache No staff at this location. Everything was virtual. If you needed anything there was no one there I would not stay at this hotel again

There was no any vegetables for the breakfast.
Staff was kind and helpful, in particularly, wrt finding a good restaurant on the first evening. Location is a convenient starting point for exploring Porto. Breakfast was served in a nice dining room

Towels were a bit old but did the job (3 sizes of towel and a floor towel). Shower had great pressure and was lovely and hot. Location was further away from the centre than I anticipated (my fault, not the hotels). Really poor wifi connection though but this seems to be true of quite a lot of Porto. It was ok first night but pretty much disappeared after that. Location of hotel is in a quiet area right at the top of Porto's main shopping street. It's around a 15-20 minute walk from Trinidad metro station which is the nearest coming from the airport (without changes). It's a fair walk from the river to the hotel in one hit for me (aged 62 and pretty unfit!). Had to unplug the in room fridge as it seemed to get quite hot. Recommend the Basque tapas (Sargardi) bar in the Ribiera area near the start of the tunnel.
The hotel was clean and all the staff were very friendly (especially Isabel who was fab). There were toiletries and a hairdryer in the bathroom and a walk in shower. There was a lift to all floors. Close by there were a few cafes for breakfast - coffee and a croissant around 3 euros. There was also an in wardrobe fridge. The room I had was first floor and during the night was quiet - traffic noise started slowing around 7am. There were black out curtains in addition to lightweight curtains on the windows and a tv in the room. I could get English speaking programmes on the tv. As an older single lady travelling alone I felt safe and secure. There were staff in reception 24/7 and the front door was locked and opened by staff as necessary after around 10pm.

The room did not have a desk, which would be helpful in case it was a work trip. The refrigerator was inside the closet, creating some heat inside. If you take a car, the entrance\exit of the garage requires some help as you go straight into traffic.
Breakfast was excellent, with a good diversity of products, with good quality, the hotel is in a premium location, allowing easy and quick access to the downtown part of Porto, facilitating sightseeing. There are 2 metro stations nearby. Overall the price was in agreement with the service provided.

It is a little bit noisy with the doors shutting loudly.

Breakfast buffet was satisfactory. Didn’t have toothbrush/toothpaste. More power plus would be appreciated (only two in room at odd spots).

Terrible Wifi, glad we had data else we would not be able to use internet at all. Fruit were finished before 9am, options were limited. For vegetarian no option apart from toast and juice. Rooms were small and bathroom door of our room doesn't open completely because of small size. No kettle etc. It's 3 star hotel but amenities were not even 2 star. We stayed because we just need to spend 1 night there and need baggage storage.
Staff was helpful and they also provide luggage storage

The room I stayed at was both next to staircase and very close to an intersection and the sound proofing was so bad it felt like I was sleeping on the ground outside. The bed was also somehow not long enough for me to sleep straight (I am not that tall either)
The staff was quite friendly, the breakfast was good and it is not far from the city centre.

Breakfast should be improved, so it matches the great quality of the rest. It's the only 'negative' thing about this place. :)
Price to quality - the best stay in Porto. Location is great - and even though there was a road outside the window, we did not really notice! :)
