How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The staff were fabulous, extremely friendly and helpful. The location and facilities are great. We absolutely enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again if we are back in Porto.

The shared bathroom can get a little cramped at busy times and it's mixed gender, but it's not actually a big problem.
This is my second time staying at this hostel and it was just as good at the first time. The common room is comfortable and friendly, the staff are helpful and there's a lovely rooftop bar at reasonable prices. The breakfast is excellent and there is fruit and bread and hot drinks available all day. It's just a 10 minute walk from sao bento station making it extremely central. I will stay here again if I ever come back to Porto.

Everything was great. There was nothing to dislike.
Fantastic place with fantastic staff. Roof bar and pool. Helpful staff.. Great, secure rooms. Great breakfast and chocolate cake!

That was super warm in the room and you could hear the noise if you open the window. And also the sink near the toilet cabins

Definitely one of the best hostels I’ve stayed. Everything is impeccably clean and well maintained. Very welcoming staff and communal space. It feels like staying at home. Central location easy to get around.

Well located, comfortable, and welcoming, Rivoli Cinema hostel stands out among hostels for its amazing value for money without sacrificing comfort or security. I really enjoyed this hostel: I felt at home; my luggage was secure; and I was well-situated to explore Porto!

I staid here before. Satisfied with staff, bed, location, food, everything they offer. I like privacy after long day in the city, breakfast is nice; coffee&tea, juices, bread,pancakes, cerials, ham&cheese, jams and more. Clean & cosy, pleasant staff. Location is great; few minutes to the center of Porto, metro is close, restaurants & bars nearby.. If you're lazy, get your drink at the reception or take your drink on the top of the building on terrace. Kitchen offers much space to prepare food..so.. Book and enjoy your stay. :) Recommended :)

Slight issue with my card on check in that set of an alarm but this was promptly sorted by the helpful team 🙂
Location was very handy for walking around Porto. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nothing about the facilities or staff themselves as they were family friendly however not all guests staying there may be, just our experience.
The staff were extremely welcoming for my family (including our two little ones)! They provided a high chair and baby cot and were always welcoming and interactive with them. I loved that we had a private corner room as well. The location couldn't have been better! It was central to everything you could need and they provided breakfast as well as free walking tours.

Nice place to stay with very friendly staff. Rooftop is a beautiful bonus! Everything was clean and working. Just don’t forget to get the earplugs, because the hostel is located on the main street! ;)

The place was awesome, and the staff were exceptional! Always went above and beyond to help with anything you needed, can not fault a thing! The movie nights were a fantastic addition, and the facilities great! Would definitely stay here again.

The bathroom is a bit small and there is only one for the second floor. Still workable but it can get very crowded.
Can’t beat the location, right in the center of Porto, walking distance to all major attractions.
