Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt was perfect! I had a street front window by request. If you like it very quiet then may not be the choice for you but if you come to Lisbon it’s worth hearing and watching the cable cars go by.
Eclectic artsy feel, so well decorated and in the heart of a unique neighborhood with great antique stores and restaurants, yet only a short walk to the tourist center. Staff was warm, friendly and accommodating. A great stay all around.

United KingdomThe hotel was beautiful, as soon as we arrived we were very well looked after, particularly by Joao who sorted us out with a very nice room. We slept very well and everyone looked after us very well. Definitely recommend staying here for an affordable comfortable and very well located stay in Lisbon.

PortugalA bit of a funky/stale smell on the stairwell.
The location just a short walk from Bairro Alto and Santos, nestled right by Parliament and 5 minutes away from beautiful Estrela/Campo de Ourique was glorious. Loved the sound of the tram passing by. Easy to walk everywhere (but it's hilly in every direction). Lots of restaurants around. The hotel's design is absolutely lovely, and if you stay in one of the top floor rooms, you'll even have a little rooftop walk-out space!

United KingdomFor people with mobility issues there is no lift but stairs do have hand rails Some routes to hotel are hilly with cobbled streets but this is compensated for by Tram 28 stop located outside hotel door.
Exceptionally kind, helpful and professional staff who made our stay memorable. Lisbon is a beautiful city and after a days sightseeing to return to such a lovely hotel with such welcoming staff was wonderful. Quiet location close to the old city with good selection of restaurants nearby. Very relaxing with very comfortable beds. Spotlessly clean. Good tram and Metro links nearby. Breakfasts really good, varied and catering for all tastes

CanadaThe staff takes great pride in preparing a breakfast that is served between 8-10am. There is something for everyone and a real perk. It’s so nice not having to run out and find something to eat. Thank you 👏

CanadaHeat rises and we were on the top floor. It was warm for sleeping. We could not adjust the room temperature and neither could the front desk. There is no A/C in the "winter" , and were told to open the windows, which we did but that brought more street noise and random mosquitoes. I am from a cold country so maybe locals would have been ok with it. The cleaning crew used febreeze or something perfumey when cleaning and it was too much, at least for me. Breakfast was until 8-10. We were there from away on vacation, and did tours. Most of them required us to be out of there before breakfast started. If it started at 7 it would accommodate those taking early tours. None of the staff was available including the front desk until 8 am. There is no signage to tell you you are there. All the windows look like doors so it was hard to find the way in. lol
The hotel is right on the tram line and it stops right in front of the hotel. The staff were awesome, greeted with a glass of wine, there was also wine and fruit in the rooms. It has a boutique feel, and classic old charm. The decor and fixtures were new and nice. There is a key entry which makes you feel secure especially when no one is there during the evening.

IrelandThere was a strange smell on the stairs. Our room had a bath, but no bath plug (and this was never provided despite asking reception twice during our stay, we called for 3 times for 10 minutes and no answer despite being told reception is open from 08.00-24.00). We also didn't get the daily complimentary water as mentioned, just once on the first day.
The staff are lovely! The room was beautiful, although the headboard was torn and the wallpaper was peeling. The breakfast was good. The property in general is tastefully decorated and well maintained. The location is good, close to the river and a number of cafes/restaurants. Located right next to Tram 28! Easy to find a running route close by if you like to run, and e-scooters can be parked 100m away.

IsraelIt would've been nice if they had a parking garage, and perhaps a rooftop balcony.
The breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. The room was with all new carpet, so no food or drink was allowed, but they do have some snacks in the fridge for sale. Because of the old style, the steps are authentic wood and you can feel it when you walk, but it adds to the charm. They have a very nice lounge and it's right by the 28 light rail, perfect for just hopping on and off while touring. Another bonus is it's in a flat location so it's easy to walk down to the restaurants and other sites. No need to walk up steep roads.
