Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Although I booked 2 double Superior Rooms but I was granted only 1 room big room and other was very compact. Only 1 person can walk towards the door. I requested to provide a bigger room but was told once available you can check and move. Despite this I spend my entire 6 nights stay at the same room since. This was the only negative thing which we experienced.
Excellent location. Only 3 mins away from Beyazit tram station. Manager was very attentive and made sure to attend to any needs. She brought food for my kids at breakfast and ordered to provide baby chair as soon as she saw my wife and kids coming to breakfast hall.

We liked everything ♥️
The staff were amazing, especially Zarina and Wahid, on reception. Everyone was welcoming and so helpful. The hotel was in the perfect location. It was easy to walk to some of the main attractions, such as the Blue Mosque. Staying at the Balin Hotel was like staying with family. We felt really sad when we left. We have told all our family and friends about Hotel Balin.

The only small minus is wall isolation.I had bad luck to have very noisy neighbours in room next to mine.Good thing is they were gone the next day.
Location is great, quite place without noise even if its in center, comfortable rooms, breakfast very good and delicious. Stuff very polite,ready to help,nice and chatty, from nice and friendly stuff at breakfast room to cleaning ladies and guys at reception.They can serve as an example how to make guests feel welcome and how to keep high level of tourist city hotel.Thanks everyone for making my short vacation very pleasent and cozy.

Manager Ms.Tuana made sure guests stay comfortably in the hotel. She was excellent as a host and very helpful in providing information as well. The location is near to all major attractions. We were given room with extended balcony which had abundant plants. We just loved the place.

It would be great if they offered more fruit options for breakfast.
The hotel is very well located. A short walk takes you to the Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque or Hagia Sophia. If your destination is Galata, the tram has a stop a few meters from the hotel. The Havaist bus to the international airport is also within walking distance. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, and are impeccably clean. We arrived 3h before check-in time and were allowed in without any additional payment. The hotel manager is very friendly, dedicated and efficient, always ready to solve any problem that may arise. Good value for money.

No complaints everything was perfect
Fab breakfast. Great room with balcony. Staff very helpful and cheerful couldn't do enough for us Big thanks to the 2 lads on the deck at reception really helpful with information and arranging taxis.information on trams and ferries. well done. Special thanks to the manageress Tuna. She knows how to treat her clients and give them everything required. She also went beyond and arranged a birthday surprise cake with all the staff singing Happy Birthday. Highly recommend this hotel.

Some time there was smell of smoking.
Excellent location , Excellent staff. This hotel as a very family oriented atmosphere. Very helpful staff. Location very close to all the amenities. Tram was only a short walk ,as well as the Grand Bazaar.

The location of the Balin Boutique Hotel was perfect - in a quiet street yet walking distance to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, etc. The restaurant on site served tasty, generous sized meals. Best of all was the staff - they were always cheerful and went out of their way to be helpful, especially when language was a barrier between us.

There's nothing I didn't like about it. Very friendly staff, restaurant under the hotel really impressive on the alleys around the Mosque square
Very conveniently located hotel, nice, clean, elegant, comfortable. Walking distance from the Grand Bazaar, one streetcar stop from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Cisterna Mosque. Around stores, typical but also classic restaurants like international chain restaurants. I recommend it to everyone.
