How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Only one weird thing about breakfast that all dishes are made from paper.

We informed the hotel three times that we were going to be a late arrival but they gave our room away. It was a hassle to get them to find us a room.

For first time visitors in NYC, I would not recommend staying near times square / Broadway, the streets around and were the hotel is located, is filthy and many drug addicts around. Nothing against the hotel is just the area that needs some extra care.
The hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming, the room was neat and organized, the breakfast was good and breakfast area always kept clean. The location is close to time square and Broadway.

Communal areas such as the lobby and breakfast room were too small for the number of guest rooms Business centre was not a business centre, it was an old PC and printer in the corridor next to the kitchens
Staff were uniformly friendly and willing to help with any inquiry - really impressive Room was a very good size for midtown Manhattan Breakfast was busy but far from the worst hotel breakfast I've had in this price range

While the room itself was clean and spacious, it could benefit from modernisation. The heating/air conditioning unit was old and noisy, disrupting a comfortable sleep environment. Additionally, the shower pressure was very strong, and getting hot water required turning it all the way up. This could be a standard practice in NYC, but it felt unusual coming from Europe.
This hotel hit the spot for our Manhattan stay. It offered a convenient, central location, exactly what we wanted. The breakfast spread was decent, with options like eggs, sausages (both meat and vegetarian), cereals, yogurts, pastries, and some fruit. It provided a good start to our day, and honestly, in NYC, a satisfying breakfast buffet is a win. The room itself was a good size and very clean, which were our top priorities. Even though we were on the 6th floor facing a busy road, we didn't hear any noise. The staff was incredibly helpful, with the breakfast crew particularly deserving a shoutout for their amazing service!

Breakfast buffet used plastic cutlery and paper plates. Staff were very good at tidying up, so much so we used new plates and cutlery for every dish. This is wasteful and sustainably poor. Could do with some redecoration

The street the hotel is on can be a little sketchy, especially at night. It's right opposite the Port Authority Bus station and there are some, shall we say, interesting characters around. Smells strongly of weed as well, but that appears to be the norm for NYC at the moment.
Room was spacious for New York City, good bathroom and quiet at night. Within easy walking distance of Times Square, some good local places to eat and drink, including some that were good value for money.

The pillows were too fluffy. The eggs at breakfast seam to be very artificial, even if they are from well treated chickens ;D. the price!!!!! I know NY is expensive, but wow!

During our stay, a bunch of teenage kids were staying in the hotel and made it completely uncomfortable to stay in the same space as them. They occupied the elevators and were passing comments which made us uncomfortable. This is not the hotel's fault. But those who were staying there. Breakfast options can be improved.
The staff were wonderful, we were two ladies travelling and the staff patiently answered all our queries. The room was spacious and clean. The water can be placed in the lobby instead of the basement gym.
