The monkeys in the tree every day! The people that worked there were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us and our baby. We loved the treats every day in the room too!

The hotel territory is large and amazing, you can meet animals (we saw a capybara, an iguana, monkeys in a tree). The breakfasts are very tasty. The staff is very nice, especially Brandon - he was very professional and attentive and gave us valuable advice. The cosmetics in the bathroom are very good. The hotel does not have many rooms, so the pools are never crowded.
Offering an outdoor swimming pool and a garden, Hotel El Jardin is located in Montezuma town centre and less than 100 meters from the beach. WiFi is available in public areas and is free of charge.

Wolf was very helpful, was happy to supply cutlery & plates etc so we could make our own breakfast. The pool area was a great relaxing place to watch the monkeys.

Good location right in the center of Montezuma. The noises didn't bother me but I can imagine it might get quite loud during high season. The rooms are quite spacious and the host was always around trying to fix hings even of without avail.
Howler Monkey Hotel is set on a private beach in Cabuya, 6 km from the small seaside village of Montezuma, next to Costa Rica’s Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve abundant wildlife and magnificent waterfalls.

You must have a car to get around to the beaches of Montezuma and the roads are rough. Grocery stores are hard to find if you want to cook at all in your rented villa. Ocean super warm and wonderful--loved Tambor beach. Wonderful fresh fish market there.

Very small town with little to do. 3-5 nights is more than enough time to see the area. Tourists (and locals) on loud motorbikes and ATVs are everywhere day and night. Not the quiet jungle getaway we imagined.

Montezuma is such a great place.
Montezuma is such a great place. So chilled, the locals are so welcoming and it just does its own thing. There are a number of good places to eat in the very small town so try everywhere out especially in the farthest reaches of town. And shop around for trips. There can be quite a difference in price with the different outlets.
During turtle hatching season, be sure to go to the beach to the left of the town and you'll see them dug up and then marching to the sea. It's a heartwarming and unique experience. Also, go back to that beach at night to see the most wonderful stars.

Small but charming and lively resort.
Small but charming and lively resort. Excellent restaurants (particularly fish dishes in 'los Artesanos') and cafes and very easy to book tours through local operators. Crashing rollers and risk of dangerous riptides made swimming somewhat risky, though ideal for surfers. A 40 minute walk along beachside path to north brings you to the magnificent beach of Playa Grande where swimming is a little safer, if not risk-free. A short walk to the south is Montezuma waterfall; it's a must-see although access requires proper footwear and some scrambling/rope work. Swimming in the refreshing pool and launching oneself from the adjacent rocks beneath the falls is highly recommended; not so, climbing up the slippery rocks immediately adjacent to the waterfall as exhibited by some foolhardy locals!

This is a very welcoming place made with a thought for the guests and their comfort! It has everything you need for a top experience, the team was perfect - they take care of all you may need, so you can simply be and enjoy life at the Montezuma beaches! Having the option to cook your own meal, makes it perfect for families with children, but very near-by there are also good restaurants - from 5 stars ones to the simple Sodas - and if you can - dont miss the Soda (Artesanos) nearby, the food there was superb and the prices - surprising in a good way!

It's a very small village, but it has its vibe. Moreover, there are many things to do around: hiking, surfing, swimming, watching bioluminescence, trip to the Isla de Tortuga is also possible.
There are plenty of beaches around, which are within walking distance.
Despite its size, there are a few very decent restaurants where I would like to go back.
If you are not looking for a crazy party place, it's a fantastic spot for a vacation.
Great Hotel. Noisy Room.
I hate to give this hotel anything but a 10 rating as the hotel, staff and location were excellent. But the constant noise in our room detracted from the stay. The hotel property is quite gorgeous with a stunning garden/lawn area backing on to equally beautiful oceanfront. The grounds are immaculately kept, the breakfast was fresh, hot and tasty and the service from all staff was exceptional. The rooms that face the ocean (away from the road) and on the top floor are sure to avoid the issues we had.
We loved the Cabinas. They are so cute, rustic, comfortable and very clean. This property is beautiful with a pool and seating areas poolside and on the ocean beachfront. No AC or fans needed here at this time of year for us as we don’t like to be cold. The dogs were lovely. The howler monkeys and parrots were around. The owner Jim has a side pool in which he is raising tadpoles. Walking distance to a few restaurants and corner store. About 6km bike ride from Montezuma. Tranquility!!
I love Ticozuma. This room was for a friend visiting from the states who wanted air conditioning, which worked very well. The room was cozy and comfortable. Had great wifi, which he used to make calls home. Great forest views from the balcony or the seating area near the stairs, also with wifi. Howler monkeys in the trees right off the balcony. He didn’t use the pool, but it looked great for a dip and a place to catch some sun.
The hotel is family run with friendly helpful staff.
After staying in a rundown hotel in Montezuma, we changed for sunshine sanctuary. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and amazing sea view of the place. The breakfast was good ( coffee , fruit plate , French toast , eggs). The owner, Anastacia, was warm and friendly. There is a private hanging bridge to Montezuma (15 mins walk) .If you are staying in Montezuma, come here instead of staying in town !
The location was great! The house is close to the town of Montezuma with its beach and multitude of restaurants. It is just 100 yards or so from a zipline canopy tour which I highly recommend. Despite being close to so many things, the house itself is quiet, hardly any noises except natural ones...like howler monkeys! The host is really sweet and outgoing; she will make you feel right at hime.
Everything was fantastic! The location, the staff, the restaurant. Everything was great! Also—to people that complained about hot water—the showers were great! There is a box right over the shower that lets you increase the temperature. also—the pool is a short walk away on the beach like 7 minutes. And it is fantastic! I highly recommend this hotel!
The view was amazing and Montezuma waterfall is a short walk down hill and the beach is a straight shot from the water fall along the way you will find a few restaurants. Plus there's 's a grocery store in town next to the beach it kinda of a long walk so make sure you put on clothes and shoes to match the amount of walking you will do.
Aves hotel was gorgeous—an absolute paradise. The staff was incredible. When our car tire was low they helped us pump our tire and let us keep the pump until we got our tire fixed. Always going above and beyond. We didn’t see a hotel even close in luxury as the Aves in the peninsula area!
The location of the hotel is absolutely amazing. The supermarkt is literally next door & the beach is just a 1 minute walk. Besides we loved that we could use the pool of the sister hotel ‘Ylang Ylang’, really nice add on for your trip! Staff is also very sweet, highly recommend!
Beautiful hotel. Gardens are lovely, so peaceful everywhere. Nice open kitchen style dining area for breakfast and lunch. Nice to be out of the town, but you definitely need a car - the hill to get up/down to the town is very steep and quite long.
I love this hotel! Right on the beach with an amazing view! A very good price, right near all the fun of Montezuma and a gated entrance with a security guard and I love that so much since we were women traveling so we felt very safe here!
The location, despite being on the main road into Montezuma, is great if you've got transportation -- car or 4-wheeler. The rooms are plain but functional, showers have hot water with great pressure.
A really beautiful place set amongst the jungle, the team there were very friendly and helpful. Minutes by foot from montezuma. Lovely and clean with a great pool. Would definitely go back.
Great location in Montezuma, but we probably would not return to Montezuma and would try another coastal town. Saw some amazing animals on the property howlers, coatimundi, agouti
Blanca is an amazing host and such a friendly person. The house is more of a "home-stay" than a hotel and you really feel like you're a part of the culture there.
It was perfect. The swimming pools were beautiful, the location was perfect. It was our fav hotel that we stayed in during our 2.5 weeks in Costa Rica.
