We only stayed for the night as we were heading Milford Sounds, it was my first time in there and I found it a very relaxing town to have some drinks, a nice night walk and then to bed. Getting up early in the morning to see the lake with the first lights of the day is a must

I like that Te Anau is somewhere to stay for visiting Milford Sounds and also for a cruise on Lake Manapouri. It is also the gateway to many other activities. There is a good road in and plenty of good eating places and the supermarket Fresh Choice has an excellent bakery.

Great place to enjoy the Great walks of New Zealand.
Great place to enjoy the Great walks of New Zealand.
We did the Keplar track for 3 days and it was amazing. The scenery is breath taking and we got some outstanding whether. It even snowed on our hike which wasn't really expected for the time of year. The Huts were all clean and tidy and the Hutt Wardens do such a great job of keeping everyone informed and safe. Would recommend this Hike. It was also nice to come back and stay at a comfortable and reasonably priced place. Great Hot showers and comfortable rooms. We will be back.

People often only go to Te Anau just to take the Milford Sound tour. There is so much for to see and do! It really is a place to just relax.
Whether it's late night strolls to the souvenir stores or restaurants or taking walks along the amazing lake views that aren't crowded by other people.
If you ever want to try out cycling, Te Anau is the place to do it. Not much traffic and the price for bike hire is cheaper than Queenstown.
If you're in on a Sunday, go visit The Life Church that. A loving warm and friendly community over there.
When it comes to food, I found food shopping, Chinese food and other restaurant prices were cheaper than Queenstown. Oh, and souvenirs are also cheaper here too.

I just love the relaxed surroundings of Te Anau, it's one of my favorites destinations for a few'nights-getaway..there is lots to do and if you're adventurous you can do even more! Amazing nature, the lake is just stunning, township is not too big but has all you could want/need. Brilliant food places...love The Ranche and the Moose. Redcliff restaurant and bar is a unexpected find, quaint and quirky but great food and staff. Overall, Te Anau is a beautiful destination if you're looking for somewhere not too touristy (at least, it doesn't feel that way)
This Motel hands down, was the most luxurious comfortable well appointed facility we stayed in of the 7 different hotels/motels on our recent trip, the attention to detail of our room from Lavender and chocolates on our pillows , to the candles for our spa bath , The most comfortable beds we had experienced , and the full lounge suite , superb :-)
Staff were super frendly and helpful, Would stay again and Highly recommend to all , Many Thanks Ross W
We stayed in the older section and were put in a suite with two bedrooms, a sitting area and kitchenette. Way more space than we needed but it was nice to have! The building manager lives on site and was very attentive. It's very dated but that didn't bother us at all. Very clean and comfortable and just off Lake Te Anau. Easy walk into town for restaurants, groceries etc. as well as a walking trail along the lake.
Village Inn is a basic Motel. It is a good economical option for self drivers wanting to stay in Te Anau. There is plenty of free parking right in front of the room. The location is easy to find. Village Inn is not located in a scenic part of town. But, it is a short walk to the lake front or dining on the main street area. The room was larger and nicer than we expected.
The apartment in Te Anau completely met our travel needs for our group. The outside space was lovely - could sit outside and kick a ball around or have a glass of wine. Plenty of room in the unit and nice to have a closed off bedroom for our son. The kitchen was small but we were able to prepare food there when needed. Staff was very friendly and helpful!
Absolutely perfection! This was the best experience I’ve had so far here in New Zealand. The room was comfortable, super clean and the service was amazing. I really recommend this place. Thank you to the host Ann, that was super kind and provided us the best experience we could have whilst in Te Anau.
We were upgraded and the room we stayed it had been renovated...it was great. The motel is in a wonderful location right across from Lake Te Anau so the view was beautiful. Just a very short walk to town and tourist locations. I would definitely recommend
Aden Motel is in a lovely location, just 5 minutes walk from the shores of Lake Te Anau. The accommodation was comfortable and spacious with a good kitchenette. The owner was very welcoming and gave us a helpful map with all the local amenities.
Our room had everything we expected-it was a very large room so plenty of space for bags. We had a very late check in so the key was left exactly where we were told. Close to the main Te Anau area. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
The facilities were clean, staff were friendly, and the cabin we stayed in provided everything we needed for our adventures! The location was perfect and close to Milford Sound as well as downtown Te Anau. We wished we stayed here longer!
Perfect motel got everything one expects of a motel, even basic in-room breakfast if so desired. 350 meter walk through the park to the (parallel) main drag of Te Anau, or if you prefer to stay in there's streaming services on the TV.
No breakfast provided. Most other small motels we’ve stayed in here in New Zealand provide a small bottle of milk for hot drinks, cereal, etc. Aden Motel had some very small containers of milk, but not a small bottle.
good value for money. on the cheaper side of motels so I did not expect the Hyatt.
stayed in a unit for 4 people at the back (by where the motor homes are parked).
Close to town, quiet and the room was clean and tidy.
Very clean room.
Accessible facilities were very good within the room
Staff were delightful
Excellent cats
Well decorated, and seems newly refurbished
Quiet
Near Lake Te Anau and parking right outside.
Beautiful views of the lake with a nice spacious garden in front of our room. The motel is also in a great location that is quiet and peaceful, and just a short drive away from Te Anau town centre.
This motel place is very clean and well maintained, sits at the centre of Te Anau town. Reception lady is very warm and helpful, gave me a good time plan for the trip to Milford Sound.
