For me, Aix-en-Provence is a little bit overrated.
For me, Aix-en-Provence is a little bit overrated. It's nice, but I would not say is really charming. Students are everywhere - and that's nice, they are enjoying bars and adding a good vibe. Other than this, some areas looks dead - maybe is just because the vacation season did not started yet?
Anyway, overall, for me Avignon is better than Aix

Nice city if you can access it.
Nice city if you can access it. We took the local train from Marseille and no taxi showed up for over 45 minutes. We finally walked to the hotel, which wasn't easy after a 3+ hour train ride. Just be prepared ahead with taxi co. phone number...Great town for foodies and drinkers..Three days are plenty. Plan excursions out of town to make the best of the area.

Aix-en-Provence is lovely.
Aix-en-Provence is lovely. Excellent restaurants, shops, marchés, sites and museums. The core of the old town has medieval charm. There a beautiful squares and the Cours Mirabeau Is lined with plane trees, shops and resturants/bars/cafes.
There are a lot of sites to see related to Paul Cézanne. His atelier is worth a visit. Where he painted his beloved Montagne Sainte-Victoire from the Terrain des Peintres.

The city was busy and some streets were to narrow for the car we rented. Some signals were confusing about narrow streets endings!
The hotel was very enjoyable. It was a great opportunity to relax and enjoy nature. We could stay longer.
We had great conversations with Christopher. He went out of his way to make us feel at home. We were able to wash and dried our clothes at no extra cost. He even packed for us some goodies for our trip.

Aix was a beautiful and historical place.
Aix was a beautiful and historical place. Every corner is breath taking. It is a stress free environment. We just wondered on foot and enjoyed every minute of it.
Buses to various different places such Avignon is within walking distance in the historic area and the schedule is very frequent. Kiosk personnel are friendly and accommodating.
We enjoyed the markets and was able to purchase a Provencal table cloth sewed by a local lady.
Equally enjoyable was people watching while dining and enjoying Rose (the specialty of Provence) in an outdoor setting by Aix main street, Cours Mirabeau

A great place to visit, steeped in history with plenty of restaurants, bars and individual shops in the old town.
Visited Cezanne's studio and soaked up the atmosphere.
Ate amazingly well.........however it appears that the local French have forsaken their own native cuisine for Italian as there are no end of Pizzerias and burger establishments.
Search and you will find. Probably the best filet steak I've had since living in France for the last eight years was at the 'Cafe Grillon'....excellent fare.
Parking is a nightmare and the roads surrounding Aix at peak times are to be avoided.
A brilliant place for a long weekend........leave the car behind as you won't need it whilst there.
If you do take your car, take a trip to Remy de Provence and Cassis. You won't be disappointed.

It’s close to bus station but far from city centre! Staff is excellent need a kettle in room ! the tv is all in French ! They kept my luggage nearest restaurant is 15minute walk from hotel! But bus station is next door so that is convenient! Breakfast is good but can be better for France!itz definitely friendly and value for money and that is a consolation for its few drawbacks and very clean quiet and comfortable bed ! For a quick visit to aix it’s quite nice and easy ! Regards to Jennifer who helped a lot at reception!
My stay at Lousuan was a delight. The hosts were charming and really helpful. It is about 10 minutes from the center of Aix en Provence in the hills with beautiful views and calm.
Breakfast was amazing with a whole selection of homemade jams by the hostess.
I would have stayed a week if I had known how comfortable and peaceful it would be.
I was given great advise for my time in the area. As well I was given a recommendation for my drive back to Paris that was a highlight of my trip.
We loved the peaceful location. The grounds were very pretty and the pool was clean and lovely to have a swim in. The room was great and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful and we'd especially like to thank Yoanne for all his time and help.
It was also great that the bus stop is right by the hotel and that the buses come so frequently - plus, it's only a few minutes on the bus into Aix. All in all, this hotel was perfect for us!!
It was in a fabulous location, close to many restaurants, patisseries, and the center of Aix en Provence. We felt very safe in the area. Although the kitchen was small, it was fairly well equipped and had what we needed for preparing breakfast and simple meals. We were not interested in cooking. Bed very comfortable, and washer-dryer combo very convenient. Amelle and Erik were very responsive and helpful and kind. Air conditioning worked well!
The team of the hotel is above any expectations, I am very grateful to all of you, who work in the hotel, for making my stay unforgettable wonderful experience. Special thank you to the leader of concierges and his team.
Food is excellent, pools are very nice, garden is beautiful, views and overall atmosphere of the hotel I would describe as heaven if you would like to be close to Aix-en- Provence and enjoy nature at the same time.
We were very surprised by how good and tastefully done this place is. Decor and furnishing are very artistic and comfortable. The room size was excellent, and the host (Clarice) was exceptional in communication and helping w late checking, restaurant reservations, etc. Parking is nearby, and the old town of Aix-en-Provence is just walkable. Outside look of the place is simple, but inside it's awesome.
Ideally located in the centre of the old city, everything is within walking distance, easy car parking nearby, very polite and helpful manager, marvellous rooms, clean, well equipped with classic French decoration, marvellous paintings all over the hotel, wonderful breakfast hall, original Aix en Provence experience.
Best trip ever. The atmosphere, gorgeous hotel with big and beautiful rooms, facilities and spa. There is two great restaurants and best quality breakfast buffet. The staff were super helpful and kind. They did their maximum for us even before we got there and after we left. Thank you so much!
Location was brilliant - just a short walk to Cours Mirabeau and the centre of Aix. It was very reassuring to have secure underground parking at the hotel. The room was a good size, clean and had all the facilities we needed. It was good value and good breakfast too!
On arriving at the Best Western Hotel, the receptionist was very helpful in providing information regarding our room
and parking within the Hotel.
We appreciated the breakfast which was complimentary. Rating: 6/10
The hotel is in a historic building in a great location right in the old town. Our room was quite large for old European hotels and had a great view. Cool entryway and lounge. Parking garage only a five minute walk away.
A very convenient location, perfect for wandering around Aix. The hotel itself is very attractive with nice period features. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Importantly, the bed had a very nice mattress.
most likely the best hotel in Aix. luxurious an spacious. good breakfast, fun indoor pool (the outdoor pool was closed for the season) ,easily getting by foot to all center attraction of this beautiful town.
La Bastide de Ganay is more a guest house than a Hotel with excellent breakfast, but no lunch or dinner options (best is to drive to Aix).
La Bastide de Ganay has 2 pools and is an extremly relaxing place.
Lovely room in a small boutique hotel just around the corner of Aix-En- Provences shopping streets. Lovely details in the room, nice amenities and such a friendly check in.
The location is perfect to visit Aix. There's a big car park in Forum des Cardeurs a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel has a nice terrace on the rooftop.
