Probably the only good thing about the stay was that the bed was very comfortable, however the air-conditioning in the room could not be altered and was so loud I had to remove my card from the light slot to even be able to get to sleep! This of course invariably resulted in the room getting a bit stuffy - lose-lose situation.

I spent 4 months in NZ and for various reasons and at different times, stayed about 9 nights/days in Christchurch, alone and also with my husband. We loved the vibe of the city. It felt a happy place, offering everything a city has to offer but in an intimate way. It felt safe, clean and it was lovely to see families enjoying the public bbqs and spaces. Lots of greenery and parks. A place that felt traditional yet new. Great places to eat, drink and watch the world go by. Really loved this place and I am not a city person! Riccarton House and gardens was a highlight. There are plenty of places around to explore for day trips too and the second hand bookshops in Ferry Road area are the least expensive I have come across in NZ! Could definitely keep going back there, even just for the hospitality and genuine friendliness of the locals.

Our visit was shorter than we would of liked but I fully recommend the International Antarctic Centre - children loved it and we could of stayed longer, informational, fun, interactive and lots to do, husky puppy was gorgeous and Matua who greeted us was informative and korero was refreshing. The cafe was great and again even the children found food they liked.
We went to Build-a-Bear to create a keepsake of our trip and that was a fun activity - Mall was open to 9pm so we were able to pop down and not rush.
The Outlet Store for new Crocs - a must for Croc addicted children.
Christchurch Tram Tour - Is a must-do. (We have done this tour previously and were disappointed to not be able to go this visit)
Christchurch Library (Tūranga) - Interactive and fun, friendly people.
We had hired a Campervan to travel in and there was a lot of areas that you could park a Camper so that was great for us to pull over and walk around.
We didn't do as much sightseeing as we would have liked but we have decided to book again for a few more days there as we spent more time in Dunedin then we expected.
We did miss going to Cookie Time as traffic was horrendous so that needs to be planned better for our next time down there.

We only had half a day in Christchurch (arrived at night, then flew out at 5pm next day) but even that was too much time to spend here! I wouldn't want to come back again. There wasn't anything interesting to see or do, apart from the "Quake City" exhibit which was good. Walked thru the botanic gardens and around the "city centre" but it was pretty much a ghost town, with hardly any people or tourists around and not really any good shops. We kept Googling for things to do, but ended up just sitting in the cafe at a Mitre 10 hardware store to fill in time til we had to go to the airport. I guess this city is more of a base for flying into (more flights than Queenstown) and for exploring further away sites.

Enjoyed the Gondola and the International Antarctic Centre but little time to do much else. Hated the traffic as we arrived around peak hour but also found the speed zones very slow compared to other cities.
Stunning heritage venue with a superb location in central Christchurch CBD. Close to all town venues, attractions, and amenities including public bus transport. Beautiful high ceilings and split-level rooms stay warm and comfortable in winter and are quake-proofed. Mostly high quality (albeit older) appliances for self-contained living, and Sky TV included. Fast cleaning upon request, and great sun block-out curtains. Excellent in-house gym, pool, and sauna amenities. Friendly staff. Less than half the price of the hotel in the same building.
Only a short walk to the CBD,
Lovely room, we got a room with 3 single beds for myself and 2 children and the room was awesome, clean, beautifully presented & warm.
We were wrapt that Hotel give had
Free wifi, smart T.Vs in the rooms, excellent cooking facilities with everything you would need to make your family meals and is right across the road from the Christchurch botanical gardens!
Even though it has no parking at the hotel I found a free park no problem in the next street.
We loved our stay and we definitely stay again.
We were picked up only 5 min after a call to the Sudima. Van driver was friendly and helpful, considering it was after midnight , we were impressed. Check in was easy. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and we were well rested and ready to start our holiday, we were even offered a lift back to the airport to collect our hire car. Driver Ken gave us lots of advice for our trip. This hotel so close to the airport and way cheaper than any other accomodation I looked up, we were beyond impressed.
We had a delayed flight, it was super convenient for us to just walk across from the airport to the hotel at 2am and just get a great night sleep before collecting our rental car the next morning. The team even left us a treat in our room as it was our first stop on our honeymoon trip and offered us late check-out. There was also no noise coming from the airport with take off's the next morning, we slept straight through.
location of hotel was great - just short walk down Colombo Street and you are in the centre of Christchurch. rooms are a good size and very comfortable - great shower. it was also easy to get a local bus from the airport to the hotel.
staff very helpful at booking taxis for transfers bak to airport ( too early for the bus) and also the station for the transalpine train
Fantastic welcome on our arrival, our host was very nice and accomodating. By far the best welcome we had in an bed and breakfast! The hotel is very charming and clean, the breakfast was very nice with fresh products and delicious eggs. It is very close to the centre and right by the art gallery. We will definitely stay here next time we come to Christchurch!
Great hotel near the center of Christchurch. Easy and convenient parking behind the hotel and a very comfortable room. Wonderful laundry facilities for a low cost available. The on-site restaurant was so good that we ate there both nights! Front desk staff was very helpful with answering questions.
Very clean and tidy, well maintained, and staffed. Great for a simple night’s sleep with comfortable high beds, bedside power, en suite toilet, and coat hooks. Great location close to Countdown shopping, ATM, food, and the 29 Bus to Christchurch CBD and not far from the airport!
This is our second stay at the Chateau, it was as good as the 1st time. The hotel is excellent from a location point of view, gardens, close to Hagley Park and CBD. We have stayed at other hotels in Christchurch and the Chateau by far is our preferred hotel.
Excellent location for a last minute presents shop, Riccarton Mall, easy access to Christchurch’s main attractions. Also a mere 20 minutes from the airport to meet your flight. Mana Was very helpful throughout and organised our airport shuttle well.
It is located centrally in the Christchuch CBD, close to every attractions within the city such as the Riverside Market Place, Botanical Garden etc. Also, it is the biggest hotel in the Christchurch CBD. Highly recommended!
Very comfortable apartment with everything we needed. Fairly close to Christchurch CBD and easy to get to all places we wanted to go, including airport. Secure off street parking. Would definitely stay there again.
Fantastic centrally located accommodations in Christchurch convenient to everything in the city. The apartments are spacious and very well maintained and serviced. Great for families, couples or small groups.
I like the staff who had a beautiful mustache, he is verry supportive and helpful. The hotel location is very good next to supermarket and near the airport. Room is clean and bed is comfy.
Friendly husband/wife owners; prompt pick-up at the airport. Love how all New Zealand hotels and B&B’s give you a complimentary small bottle/carton of milk. 😊
