Great location, close to train station and within walking distance of main places of interest. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed. Our room overlooked a construction site next door but the windows blocked out any noise. One of the features for us was the sauna/yoga area. It was very well appointed with a lovely chill out area, complete with complementary herbal tea. Would stay here again.

International Airport. Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus.
The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Salzburg is lovely with the mountains visible from almost every part of the city. It's a walkers paradise and for longer distances public transportation is more than adequate. The bus connections are on point. Most of them driving to or past city attractions. Also, public transport is very affordable as it should be in every major city. Salzburg food scène is not subject to mindless consumption like other major cities which is actually a welcome breath of fresh air. On a major holiday, we were shocked to find out that most restaurants were closed. However there are enough places to eat with good and friendly staff, tasty food and especially, well priced for good portions. So yes Salzburg is lovely to visite.

We stayed a week, which would probably be too long for the average visitor, but we wanted a slow pace and to do things beyond the city.
Must-do sights: Residenz (which affords a view into the cathedral), Mozart birth house, Mirabell gardens, Hellbrunn (a short bus ride). The Hohensalzburg fortress too, though the views are its best feature, interior a bit ho-hum.
Best places we ate at: for veggie fare, Heart of Joy and for fabulous Austrian fare, Alte Fuchs and Johanneskellar (all of these in 'new town' area).
In general, just wandering around is nice.
Oh, and don't forget all the Sound of Music stuff (the four hour tour was very good).

Salzburg is a beautiful city, with great facilities and friendly people. There is plenty to do, the Fortress (Catle) is interesting and the exhibits have changed since the last time we visited. Museum of Modern Art may interest you. Multiple museums to visit. If you’re into the Sound of Music, or Mozart there is much to see. Good location to visit other places like the Salzkammergut. Many reasonable food and drink places in the city - Sternbräu is one of our favourites - and a visit to the Stiegl brewery is worth a thought. Salzburg card worth considering - gives you free public transport and free entry to many tourist sites. 3 day card 46 euros, we easily got 100 euros value and could have had more if we had pushed it.

Blown away,, what a lovely city and we will be back next year for a longer stay. We felt safe and comfortable as we could find our way about easily plus the locals were friendly and it was so lovely we could live there.OK, keeping it real, we were there in May which is my favourite time to travel so we were blessed with superb weather and yes, it would be interesting in January and as I have been to Vienna many times in January I can say visit when the weather is tipped to be right for you and this city will not disappoint. The Coffee was good, tourist walks great as was the food and if you are counting steps, you will get a huge boost in your activity count as it was all too easy to want to walk more and we did and loved it.

A fabulous city for Sound of Music lovers, and this tour is a highlight. The old town and Hohensalzburg Fortress make a great visit too and this is a delightful, compact city that has beautiful architecture and fine restaurants. Everyone seems more relaxed and friendly here than in busy Vienna and Saltzburg is well worth three nights to take in most of the sights. To ascend the castle and sit for lunch at the restaurant near the exit for the funicular and enjoy spectacular mountain views was a wonderful moment for us.
This is an amazing hotel. The view from my room was great. I could see the Fortress sitting beautifully over the old town... The only thing that beat that there was the view from the rooftop! It was spectacular. They upgraded my room for me for free, they charged my phone when my charger stopped working. They looked up all the info for my train tickets for me. If I am ever lucky enough to visit Salzburg again, I would definitely stay here...
The price was exactly what I had planned. When I was picking between the hotel restaurant Auerhahn and some well known hotels for similar prices, I wanted fine dining close at hand along with helping a smaller business. This is purely family owned and you will meet the same 2-5 people that handle everything each and every day. One more note on the food - it was some of the better I've had in Austria, not only Salzburg.
Exceptional location (2 mins walk from Salzburg central railway station with mall next door meant convenience as well as a plethora of dining options) of this hotel made it a winner for us! Room although small was functional and well-appointed. A bit far from old town where most of the attractions were but hotel which is well-served by buses and trains helps to mitigate this issue.
From Check In to Check Out, all went smooth. The hotel is very conveniently located with a bus route (21) taking you to the heart of Old Town Salzburg in 20 mins.
The staff are well trained and responsive, the hotel is very clean and well maintained. The Hotel Manager Roland, was extremely helpful and gave us a good run-down of what we could do in the time we were in Salzburg.
We were given the only two-bedroom room at the hotel, perfect for a family of four. We think it was originally two separate hotel rooms, which have been combined into one. Really great location next to Mirabell Plaza. An easy walk to the bridges leading into old town Salzburg. Only a block away from the Sound of Music tour starting/ending location.
Very friendly staff . Nice cafeteria with complementary coffee. Breakfast is superb. The room size is better than expected. The rooms were cleaned everyday. It's very close to the old town in Salzburg. Easy accessibility to major attractions of the town. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel for easy access to bus 150 to Hallstatt.
The location is a 15 min walk from the central train station, which was perfect for us. We kept it light and had only back-packs. The hotel itself is in the "new" part of Salzburg but don't let that make you think you are going to miss out on charm or beauty. There's so much within 100 feet of the front door.
grödig is a charming Austrian town, very relaxing; hotel is only 4km from Salzburg downtown and well serviced by bus. hotel very very clean, staff super kind, rooms spacious and comfortable. breakfast was SUBLIME for teh quality and variety of items, many locally made! we will return there next year
The hotel is very well situated. It's in the old town, walking distance to everything and very close to the bus route to Untersberg. It was comfortable and very clean when we stayed. The staff were knowledgeable and gave great information on what to do around Salzburg.
The location of the hotel is lovely, it's on the river just south of the city centre. You can walk along the river into Salzburg in 30 mins and it is a lovely walk. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is great with amazing local dishes.
The hotel was a short 5 min walk to city centre with a beautiful view on the Hohensalzburg Fortress. The hotel has a parking in front which is convenient when traveling with a car. Breakfast was amazing with a wide selection. There is also a bar that works 24/7.
Very clean and fresh hotel with pleasant design. Small but convenient rooms, excellent breakfast. Perfect location (with parking), the old town is 2 minutes away by foot. Views on the castle and mountains. Dogs are also allowed at an extra cost.
The room was nice, modern and had a view of the Salzburg. I loved the rooftop bar, make sure you go for a drink when there. A big plus was the parking garage, since I came by car. The hotel is a short walk to the city centre.
Hotel Drei Kreuz is ideally located for easily exploring Salzburg Old Town. The staff were incredibly helpful and the room was very clean and spacious enough for three of us to share comfortably.
Wonderful quaint hotel, pension near the train station. friendly staff, comfortable rooms, close to train station and within walking distance of old town Salzburg
