Nicosia's old town is fascinating and safe to walk around day and night.
Nicosia also has an excellent cheap bus service.
Locals are friendly and helpful if you need directions. Many Cypriots speak English.
And of course the Greek Cypriot food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Besides, almost always great weather, very nice people, and delicious food, 1 - to 2 days in Nicosia is enough to walk around and check out the sightseeing. I recommend passing through the border to the Turkish side and shopping a bit in the Turkish Bazar (the ladies will like POSH Handbags & Shoes shop) and eating at the local restaurants. Have a Turkish coffee.

Nicosia is a very unique and historic City.
Nicosia is a very unique and historic City. Famously it is still a divided city and it is possible to visit Northern Nicosia which is under Turkish Occupation since the 1970s.
There are many very interesting and fairly unique sites to visit on both sides of the border.
Nicosia is both a very modern city and has also a very old and picturesque sector. The fact that it has a patrolled border, the Green Line, running through it makes it a very memorable experience.
There are many restaurants and tavernas of variable quality in the town. Sadly there are way too many fast food outlets, but there are also some traditional tavernas serving fresh local delicacies.
However my main criticism would be, as a vegan, I found it very difficult to find places that catered for me.

The southern city center is very small--you can easily walk from end to end multiple times in a day of sightseeing--but it is a pleasant mix of developed tourist streets, colorful quaint residential streets, abandoned buildings and weird more or less closed shops with display windows full of junk. The center is worth a day. A second day is best spent on the Turkish side or in nature at the city outskirts.

I loved and always visit Nicosia both myself and my wife visited 2 or 3 times per year I love the weather and the kind people , lots of attraction and lots of restaurants with fine food , fantastic place especially in December time , Nicola is easy to move around
Very nice hostel, very clean, helpful and honest staff, they clean every day, and change sheets. I stayed 2 weeks there, and the owner offered me one free laundry load as a bonus, that I appreciated. They have a big sunny terrasse, beautifully painted, and free tea and coffee throughout the day. It is within walking distance (10min) to the museum, (20min) downtown, the border with Turkish side of Cyprus, and the main bus station that connects you with main cities. I totally recommend.
Royiatiko is situated right in the middle of the old town. Everything is walkable, so location wise it is in a very good place.
Ideal as a base to explore on foot. The breakfast staff were efficient and helpful, all the staff had a friendly demeanour. The breakfast menu was good : scrambled egg, bacon on a warmer. Croissants jams and all the cereals, juices.
It's a light and bright hotel, plenty of windows, and well lit at night.
this place is exceptional! best we stayed in Europe so far! stuff extremely professional and happy to help the room was incredibly stylish very modern and specious location was in the best part of Nicosia where all the shops are 5 min walk from lidras . we absolutely loved it thank you so much for having us !! we will definitely be back to MAP
The property is located in the Turkish part of Nicosia where I felt very comfortable and there are no problems for tourists to pass from the Greek side of Nicosia to the Turkish side. The hotel has nice rooms and a shared garden. The rooms are neat and clean. I recommend only a day visit to this city to all visitors to Nicosia.
This place was the nicest we had during our trip in Cyprus, it's right in the modern city center of the city, very close to Ledra street that takes you to the turkish side. It is very comfortable and the kitchen is equipped with basic facilities. It has a fridge and a boiling water cup. The staff is also very nice and helpful.
The room was spacious and well organised & decorated. The beds (both ours and our child's) were quite comfortable. The breakfast was simple but good. Finally, the air conditioning was not directed to the bed unlike other hotels we stayed in Cyprus. This is a big advantage when travelling with kids.
Location in centrum of old town, just next to green line and entrance to north part of Cyprus. Hosts were very kind. Parking in front of building was available. Nice place at roof with chairs and tables. Room was clean. One small minus, bathroom was very tiny. Generally I can recommend this place!
Had a fabulous stay at the newly opened the Sental Boutique Hotel! The cleanliness was impeccable, and the location was superb. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the decoration was stylish and inviting. Highly recommend for a cozy and relaxing stay!
The Centrum Hotel is in the perfect location, close to everything. It's clean, the room was big and the balcony was enormous. It was everything we could have hoped for, and we would definitely recommend for a good night's sleep in Nicosia.
The Hotel was excellent, exactly what we needed. It was only a very short stay but as we travel to Cyprus on a regular basis for work and are here sometimes for a week at a time.
