This was a great place to stay on the Camino. It was a hotel experience at a hostel price. Juan the manager/owner was welcoming, friendly, helpful and worked very hard. He was checking us in, running the bar and the restaurant. It was airy and spacious, very well designed and everywhere was very clean. The dorms had beds, not bunks, with bedside tables, lights, plug sockets and hanging rails. The ceilings were high with tall doors/windows to the outside that allowed good ventilation. The bathrooms were great, with marble sinks, showers and toilets. The terrace and garden outside were lovely, and inside there was a great bar and dining room. There is also a large indoor seating area. The pilgrim's dinner was excellent and plated up like restaurant food. The position was great - Villafranca is a lovely town - within easy walk of the main square, restaurants and cafes. It really was a lovely place to stay.

Enjoyed our stay, disappointed that the bar and restaurant were closed (Sunday evening), and could not even buy a bottle of water. However enjoyed our stay, staff very helpful 👍

The town is full of historic buildings and sites, and the surrounding area is stunning and interesting. Being a significant stop on the El Camino Santigo adds to vibrancy. The viticulture and grape industry is beautiful in the surrounding region, and in a very short distance you can be lost in a myriad of very old rural villages.

Villafranca del Bierzo is an amazing town, full of history and with beautiful historic buildings. It is truly an enchanted medieval town in the path of the french Camino de Santiago. We arrived for the town’s celebration of their patron: “El Cristo de la Esperanza”. The “Ayuntamiento” organized a lot of activities, a fair, concerts until late night, wine tasting and tapas. It was memorable. The town is in the UNESCO list of historic places. The Church of Santiago with Las Puertas del Perdon, the church of San Nicolas, La Colegiata, the church of San Francisco have been built centuries ago and are witnesses of the history of the town. These buildings are artistic representations of other times and tell you about the glorious past of Villafranca del Bierzo and its vibrant present. The food is delicious.

Good central location and small terrace with view to a church on the hill above. Compact apartment well-equipped and comfortable. Parking is not easy nearby but there’s plenty up near the Tourist Office. The host was friendly and was at the apartment within a few minutes of phoning him when we arrived.

We spent only one night in Villafranca as we were walking the Camino de Santiago. Nestled between mountains, this is definitely one of the most beautiful towns we passed through, and there were many lovely ones. Points of interest include La Puerta del Perdón and Plaza Mayor. Puerta del Perdón Restaurant served us one of the best meals we had on our entire trip. Villafranca is in the famous Bierzo wine region, so don't miss trying the wonderful wines!

Wonderful small village with a lot of history and points of interest for those interested in culture, history and religion. It has a castle, several palaces, churches and monasteries from 12-16th century.
Take the chance to enjoy the wine with the designation of origin of Villafranca!

I am a pilgrim walking along Camino de Santiago.
I am a pilgrim walking along Camino de Santiago. Camino Santiago is going through Villafranco-del-Bierzo. Yo can have rest and good meal at any cafe or restaurant here. They are always ready for pilgrims. The town has special signs for those who walks along Camino, so yes, it is easy to walk around. There are many churches there, a castle and a very beautiful garden which dates back to the 17th century.

Suite was awesome! Generous sized tub, double sink in the bathroom with ample counter space. Sitting area with TV and bed made up with the extra pillows that we had requested using booking messenger! Front desk staff was excellent. Excellent suggestions for sights to see and recommended a new restaurant in town. Helped us book hotel rooms in two towns where Booking.com said there was no availability. We heard the indoor pool was a must see, but we missed it. Breakfast was one of the most leisurely and enjoyable of our vacation.
Such an oasis for us! Perfect for a stop on the Camino! The host Olga was so kind and made our stay great! It was fresh and clean and had a common kitchen for our use which was nice a few snacks and drinks available plus kettle, coffee and Breakfast meats cheese fruit provided. Bed was so comfortable and room was quiet. Shower was heaven! Steps from restaurants and stores. Decided to take a rest day and enjoy the comfort and Olga did our laundry for 8 euros. Such a bargain and so appreciated. Loved this place & Olga !🥰❤️
The showers are great, better than of most Hotels. The owner cares about it guests, I got there at night and was very helpful. Full sheets with a blanket are provided. Every bed has light and power plug. Good lockers. This was by far my best value for money stay in the Camino de Santiago.
The room was tidy, cozy and very well equiped.
The hotel is on top of a hill so the landscape is beautiful.
The owner made me feel super confortable, I enjoyed the conversation and the atmosphere of such a special place.
I am really looking forward to come back.
Lovely smaller hotel, well placed "at the top of the hill" easy walk to town plaza, but nice quiet location. Beautiful, comfortable, spacious rooms.
Our host, Dani, was delightful, very attentive and friendly. Also, an incredibly good whistler!
Heaven on earth. It is like a resort. Juan, the host, is the kindest and hardest working hospitalero on the Camino.
Absolutely incredible. The accommodations, atmosphere, food, wine from his family vineyard
This is a must-experience.
Easy to find. Super clean. Big bright room and bathroom. Lady working there was lovely. No food but gorgeous meal in restaurant at bottom of the street. Very handy to Camino route.
I'm so pleased I stayed in this hotel.
It was one of my favorite hotels on the Camino so far. it’s clean, conveniently located on the Camino, and full of Spanish charm. The breakfast buffet was lovely and the staff were kind and helpful.
No breakfast was included. The location was wonderful—in shadow of castle and close to plaza. Luis was very accommodating. We are biking Camino and being able to store bikes on patio made it easy.
Beautiful old, athmospheric monastery with large wide corridors and lovely spacious rooms. Staff were very pleasent. Very near town center on the camino. Convenient laundry facilities in hotel
Everything about this hotel is excellent- from the location, to the attentive staff, to the clean and fully equipped rooms, a fantastic bath and then an interesting gift shop. I will be back!
Lovely lobby. Quiet. First rate and wonderful staff. Sparkling clean and comfortable bed and bathroom. Lovely view from the room onto town. A very comfortable, quiet, lovely hotel.
