The Spencer Hotel, hotel in Dublin

Overlooking the River Liffey, The Spencer Hotel is 10 minutes from the famous O'Connell Bridge and 20 minutes from the Temple Bar and Grafton Street.

The facilities were great and the room exceeded my expectation. A lot of places take photos with a wide lens to make it look more spacious, but our room really was very spacious and comfortable. Especially after coming from London where the reverse was true. We did not initially book the rooms with the hotel breakfast however we did change our mind on site and it was fantastic, they provide a delicious buffet style breakfast and also offer special orders such as fried eggs or waffles at no additional cost, simply just ask a server. On our last evening I ventured down to the gym and was pleasantly surprised how very good the gym facility was. Very well stocked on gym equipment! Suffice to say, a repeat at The Spencer Hotel next time I'm in Dublin is a high likelihood!

FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery and Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

The Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish holiday, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, a self-catering apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

I have visited Dublin City many times and even in O'Connell Street I am always aware of what is going on around me. I must say that even during the day I am a little more apprehensive than I was when working and living there 25 years , when I walk the streets. I was also conscious of the lack of Gardai on the streets, even O'Connell Street where I did notice some anti-social behaviour.

There was so much to see and do, we were never bored.

There was so much to see and do, we were never bored. The people are so friendly and helpful. It’s a great place to visit. The food is amazing, there’s tons of places to eat. Camden st and by temple bar would definitely have to be my recommendations for food. We were only there for a few days so we did the Dublin zoo/ phoenix park and the trinity college day tour where it took us to the long room and the book of kels. Will definitely be back, hopefully with more time!

It was my second time in Dublin so I did not do much of sightseeing. Can definitely recommend the Pig's Ear restaurant (second visit after several years and still great food) and a trip to Howth for hiking. Relatively easy hike and breathtaking views.

Dublin is a compact city, which lends itself to walking various districts; one is never too far from a pub or museum, and there's a key shopping street North and South of the river ( Liffey). Eating out is expensive, but there are green spaces ( eg St Stephen's Green and Merrion Square) for picnics, and some free museums ( eg Collins Barracks, and the Museum of Modern Art in Kilmainham). Having a city tram, the Luas, makes travel to the outskirts easier than ever.

    Dublin exceeded all expectations!

Dublin exceeded all expectations! We loved exploring as many of the pubs and restaurants as we could... Guiness and Jameson storehouses did not disappoint... So much going on all the time - the aroma of Irish cuisine, traditional Irish music and people from all walks of life spilled out into the streets of Dublin... It's senses overload for sure. Dublin is a must see and do...

Dublin is a relaxed, friendly city.

Dublin is a relaxed, friendly city. Being compact, it's easy to navigate. The hop on, hop off buses are a great way to see all the best tourist attractions, if you have limited time in the city. Three days was enough to see all the major attractions. Pubs offer well priced meals with big portions. Be prepared to have hot chips with everything!

I had established in advance with the hotel that we could leave our bags early, before check in time, but when we arrived our room was ready which was great. The location is great if visiting Dublin city centre - it was just off O'Connell Street and a couple of minutes easy walk to the Abbey Theatre, where we were headed. The staff were lovely, the beds were comfortable, the aircon kept the room at a comfortable temperature, the room was very quiet, and the shower was great. There was a safe in the room.

Perfect location in the city centre of Dublin. The hotel is situated in a small bystreet which makes it very calm and quiet. The rooms are great, every facility you need is there. I had chosen for a small room, but it has everything you need during your stay. The breakfast is the best breakfast I ever had in a hotel in my life, it is amazing and of great quality. It is also a very sustainable hotel and does a lot of things to care for the environment. The interior is also very pretty and modern.

Lovely hotel, very clean and efficient. Room was beautiful, shower was amazing and spotless. Security was very good within the hotel, considering the concert and other events in Dublin which were on. Price was reasonable enough for Dublin, especially considering the eventful weekend that it was. Staff were outstanding, happy to help and very kind. Would definitely stay here again, so accessible and easy whilst attending the concert and easy to get in and out of the city centre too.

The value for staying a full week was very reasonable for Dublin City centre.. breakfast was first class and great variety.. even though we didn't avail of it it was great to have the option of music ever night.. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone that may be needing accommodation near the mater or even a long weekend in Dublin

This is probably the nicest, cleanest, best run Hostel we've stayed in, in many years of traveling around Ireland. Clean, clean! Great mattresses, pillows a bit thin, but that's the only negative comment I can make. Nice self catering kitchen, has a car park inside the gated courtyard, a huge bonus in Dublin. It costs €10 a night extra, but well worth it. It's close to city centre and transit systems. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Clean modern comfortable hotel, quite corporate focused as opposed to family orientated. We stayed here before going to the Aviva for an Ireland match and found it a convenient location 15 min walk from stadium and about the same to the city Centre. The Luas is close by on Mayor Street which is also a bonus. Good breakfast, with plenty variety, staff helpful and friendly.
