I went just at the start of the Easter break, and it was nice and quiet, I imagine it being a popular summer resort. Good facilities with plenty of eateries. Travelling around Southend was okay, gets busy during rush-hour. Great long walks along the esplanade and the pier. A lot of the shops were closed during close-season.AAnonymous - 4.0Scored 4.0

I lived in Southend for many years, this was a visit to see family and attend a family gathering. The town (I will never call it a city) is a shadow of its former self. I wouldn't go to Southend unless I had a specific reason, it just isn't as welcoming as it used to be and the high street is dead. In the summer, short break with young children who want no more than the beach and this place would be ok. There are some decent restaurants but stay out of the town centre for those.EricaUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Across the seafront road was the beach, within easy walking distance was food outlets and pubs. The pier was within 20-25min walk. Seafront road was clean and tidy, busy at times, but not too noisy. When we were in Southend (June) the place was easily access, the fair at the entrance to the pier was quite good, but no loud music blasting out, so wasn't an issue. All in all. we had a pleasent first visit and would return here.

The seafront and Old Leigh are also very close by. The rooms are bright and full of light, the back yard is perfect for breakfast in the morning and to have off street parking in Leigh on Sea is a godsend! The location was really good, central for Southend and Westcliff-on-Sea, whilst being fairly quiet as it is at the end of a road. Staff all seemed friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to get one of the few parking spaces in the car park at the rear, as we were visiting off season.
