Besides having things to do in Hanoi, it is the springboard for places such as Sa Pa, Ninh Binh
and Halong Bay. The food is great with many options. The water puppet show was spectacular and train street a hoot. Definitely try the various coffees and local dishes. Many options in Hanoi for vegetarians too. The prison (Maison Central) was very interesting and I believe the Women’s Museum is fascinating too. And oh, the Vietnamese are so generous and hospitable. My visit was beginning of June and the days were hot - 34-35 degrees, so be prepared if you visit at that time.

Only good for shopping experience, eating out and walking in evening -night time in old quarters area and lake. Train street and water puppet show were good experiences. Weather too hot and humid for any other sight seeing. Large Malls are not worth spending time, as expensive.
Recommend - cruise trip to halong or lan ha.
Highly recommended - stay at Tam coc for minimum 3 nights as it much much better than spending more time in Hanoi City.

Lots to see and do, Temples and museums, natural areas such as Ha Long Bay and Lanha Bay. We were short on time so did a day trip from Hanoi with Jade Sails. They emphasise the standard of their boat and trip and it lived up to their "luxury" moniker. Some museums are a long walk if it's hot so consider the cheap taxis (download the Grab app with cash/Visa payment options). Many hotels to choose from and at a fair price. Many restaurants and eating places serving wonderful Vietnamese cuisine to choose from. Our advice - Use suncreen and a hat. Drink bottled or boiled tap water. Wash your hands with soap or sanitiser frequently especially before eating. Be careful to eat in busy restaurants where the food doesn't sit long, be careful eating salad washed in tap water (dunk it in your boiling hot Pho! ). Experience the long distance trains. The Lotus Express is such a wonderful journey, go for the soft berths, very comfortable. The smaller places around central, coastal Vietnam are a breath of fresh air after the big cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.

I stayed in the old qtr - weekend night market, lively, or relaxing. Water puppet show was great. Sights and food, plus cheap shopping. Don't pay for baggage on the plane and having to lug around a huge suitcase when you can get washing done for you anywhere in Vietnam (also gives locals work) and you can buy cheap clothes just for the trip if needed. Same for almost anything needed to stay fresh and clean. Hire a scooter and do it on your own or do tours - choices are all open. Make loose plans on what/where to go but wait until their to book a lot of things because it's so easy to get around, book for next day, etc (it was when I was there because it wasn't as busy as later in the year and other factors like wars, covid and inflation keeping a lot of people at home instead of abroad).
This is a great place to stay in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. On the weekends the walk only zone is literally on your doorstep! The hotel is small and the staff look after your every need and are extremely friendly. Mike reached out to us even before we arrived to offer any assistance we needed. While we at the hotel Mike and the other staff were fast with service and so friendly! The whole place is spotlessly clean and the breakfast is great, with made to order items as well as the best spring rolls we had in Hanoi!
We stayed at the Scent Premium Hotel for a total of 4 nights during our stay in Hanoi and can highly recommend it:
The staff is so friendly and helpful if you need help with luggage or any kind of bookings or recommendations
• Central location and perfect to explore city center & area around Hoan Kiem Lake & old quarter
• Amazing breakfast with a variety of local Vietnamese dishes
• Rooms are very clean and have a nice interior
Thanks again to the Scent Premium team for making our stay so enjoyable.
Hands down the best hotel we stayed at in Vietnam! The hotel was clean and comfortable and in a perfect location between the old quarter and lake and the French quarter. The breakfast was delicious with lots of Vietnamese and Western options. We also tried out the spa and had a very relaxing massage.
The best part of the Bendecir hotel though is their staff - everyone there was so incredibly friendly and helpful. They helped us to arrange a trip to Ha Long bay, gave lots of tips and a great value trip.
This was our second stay in this hotel (hotel was so good for first night in Hanoi, that we booked it also for our last nights in Hanoi). Hotel is very comfortable (especialy beds), breakfast is very good with very large posibility of choice of food, view of the city is exceptional from breakfast room. Staff was very friendly and helpful and location of hotel is perfect - just in the middle of old quarter. This hotel was the best hotel we stayed in Vietnam.
Trang and Hang are two of the most special, helpful, and amazing hotel staff I have ever met. The room Great! The hotel itself is in great location, best coffee houses, best beef pho restaurant, and walking proximity to all you’d want to visit while in old quarter Hanoi. Truly the experience made memorable by the awesome customer hospitable service. Returning again in a few days…and my go to next time in Hanoi. If you don’t stay here, you’re missing out.
We stayed at San Grand Hotel 2 nights and had a great time in Hanoi. We arrived in the morning, but early check-in was no problem for a little fee. Also leaving our backpacks and having a shower after check out was no problem.
The staff was very courteous and asked if everything was all right. Complimentary tea time between 2-5pm in 10th floor with great view and good fruits and cakes, lovely! Varied breakfast and best location in Hanoi's old quarter.
I don’t usually ever write reviews but this hotel deserves recognition. They went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. Easily the best hotel in the old quarters. We won’t even consider staying anywhere else in Hanoi in the future. Incredible staff (especially Tommy at front desk). Clean rooms. Nice overall atmosphere. Good breakfast with vegetarian options. Oh and amazing views of the city from the rooftop. Can’t hype this place up enough!
Very helpful and kind staff. Nice and clean accommodations. The house keeping also specially made cute dragonfly bath towels and dog bath towels to welcome us. Complimentary hot tea, crackers and bananas were available in the lobby. It's a very sweet and nice treat at the start/end of the day. The hotel is located in the Old Quarter and has very convenient transportation. It is the best way to experience the vitality of Hanoi.
Luxury Old Quarter Hotel had the best staff of any hotel we’ve stayed in for many years! The warmth of the welcome given by Mr. Huy Manager and all his reception staff was truly exceptional. All the staff in the hotel deserve high praise as they were professional and friendly despite being busy. The rooms were clean comfortable and well equipped with the best bed and pillows in Vietnam! We can’t praise it all highly enough.
Staff was so great and it was in a great location. We were easily able to walk all around the Old Quarter Hanoi. There are tons of food options near the hotel and places to go out. Also there are many touristy sites in walking distance.
The rooftop bar was really great as well and had great views!
The spa was probably the best massage I’ve ever gotten - highly recommend.
A decent hotel in a great location in the Old Quarter. A "suite with balcony" is an equivalent to the regular-sized hotel room and it was all we needed as a base to explore Hanoi. Most of the attractions are within walking distance. Staff is very nice, they've let us keep our bags there for 24+ hours as we had the Ha Long Bay trip booked the next day.
Hotel was very well located to the lake and eateries around Hanoi. You can explore the old quarter very easily as well as the French quarter.
Hotel room was very comfortable and clean. The staff are very accommodating and nice.
Buffet breakfast is also very plentiful with options to order additional food. Mix of western and.local choice.
The best hotel I stayed in Hanoi. Room I had were quite even been in the Old Quarter and near the lake (Location was ideal in getting to the top areas). Breakfast was great. And best of all we’re the staff, very kind to recommend all the things for me. Booking all tours with them was also my wisest choice. Definitely will come back!!!
Out of all the hotels we stayed in Hanoi, this was the cleanest with no ants. It had the best natural lighting coming through the windows and two full length mirrors. Room was very clean, and nice toiletries. Appreciate there was a bathtub for baths. A bit out of the way edge of old quarter but minutes away from Train Street.
Best hotel staff ever! They were so helpful, friendly and welcoming. The hotel is also conveniently located in the heart of the Old Quarter so it was very easy to walk around to some of the attractions. I would love to stay here again when I come back to Hanoi. Highly recommend!
Victor Metropolis hotel & rooftop bar is one of best hotel in Hanoi old quarter. Our King room was large, nice city view, clean and modern facilities. Hotel staffs was friendly. Hotel location is perfect that’s close to lake, night market, shops nearby. Book it.
Wow best hotel stay in whole of Vietnam, can’t fault anything the staff the room the breakfast the location all perfect, highly Recommend staying here if in Hanoi. It’s in within walking distance of lots of food places and about 15 min to the old quarter.
This must be the best hotel we've stayed in. The room itself was extremely spacious and comfortable. The hotel has a lovely location in Hanoi Old Quarter. Best wishes to all the staff . We hope to return to Vietnam and will definitely be checking back in.
I experienced the best service in Royal Palace hotel. Mr. Jim especially helps me a lot and I got a lot of travel information from him. Also, the hotel is located in the center of Hanoi old quarter, so it's very comfortable to travel by walking.
Victor gallery hotel & restaurant is one of best hotel in Hanoi old quarter with exceptional service, lovely- clean room, best location, nice - great restaurant with French food. Best place.
