Beautifully renovated apartment right in the center of Machico. While Machiko is not a touristy destination it's a perfect place to stay if you want to access several hikes in the area and we loved getting the local flavor of the town which is much less touristy than Funchal. The apartment was perfect in the best location one block from the water with lots of restaurants within a block, including a delicious coffee shop across the street. Completely new and clean. Everything was thought of down to the last detail, including a care package of local goodies. The host was easy to get in touch with and very responsive. I initially was concerned about comments regarding construction, but while there was some construction the noise did not bother us at all.

Gouveia Family Escape is newly renovated home, located 15-20min walk from Machico center, and 5min from the airport by car. It is in a quiet location with a beautiful view from the terrace. Despite the proximity to the airport, it wasn't noisy at all. It was also a good location to travel everywhere on the island. It does not have a private parking, but you can park on the street for free. We stayed for a week, and could find a spot right next to the house every day. Joanna, the host, is very friendly and was always available for communication, questions etc. The house is beautifully decorated and one could feel, that it was prepared with heart and love. Everything was spotlessly clean and well equipped.

The location was perfect! If you cannot find any parking on the street, there's a parking up the hill (by BP station) and you can leave your car there for days, it's free! The house is very close to the beach and the town centre, 2 mins to the beach and a 6 mins walk to the centre. The property is a very large house, though it's close to the centre it's very quiet. You can have a good night sleep! Unlike in a hotel where you can hear noises from the lift or guests passing by your room. The host is very nice and polite, very communicative on Booking's messenger. Fix the checkin and checkout estimated time, and she would be punctual. Highly recommendable and will choose to stay at this accommodation again! I am a fussy person and prefer to give my honest opinion. This is a genuine review:))

From the moment of our arrival to the very end this accommodation was perfect. The host was very communicative and helpful, with problems even outside this booking. He even ordered us a taxi when we couldn't do it ourselves. The apartment was very cozy with everything you would need for a short and even a very long stay. It was close to everything and most important it was close to the highway, so your can start you journey every day very easily. The kitchen is very well equipped even though we ate outside most of the time. The terrace has a perfect view of Machico beach.

Our host, David, was very kind and helpful. The apartment is bigger than it looks like in the photos and very good equipped with everything one would need for a perfect, cosy stay just like home. The neighborhood is quiet so that we could have a good rest. It is very close to the highway and the airport, has free parking place, a nice terrace and shops nearby.
