Pingyao Baichanghong Hotel ligt net naast het Xietongqing Unincorporated Bank Museum. Beautiful accommodation at the centre of ancient city of Pingyao in the bustling South Street. The owner and staff are very friendly, warm and helpful. They picked us up from the station and brought us to Ancient City (cars are not allowed inside) and also brought us on the day of departure, both for very reasonable fees, because we were with 5, too many for a taxi. The hotel and rooms were in a traditional style, allowing for great pictures.The beds and cushions were very comfortable for us. The bathroom and toilet are combined in a small room, but it wasn't bothersome.The owner knows the nearby shops and good spots to go to, definitely ask for tips. We enjoyed our 2 nights and 3 days in Pingyao a lot, definitely recommended.

Datong Yunzhong Traditional Courtyard ligt in het oude centrum van Datong, op 5 minuten lopen van de Huayan-tempel en de Negen Drakenmuur. Peaceful and quiet, the owners were lovely, and you could tell they kept pride in their place. The meals were great especially the noodles. Enjoyed breakfast which was a mix of sweet potatoes, vegetables, dumplings, sausage. The area had plenty of food around it and a short walk to the wall and ancient drum. Found out by guide the whole town is a replica made a decade ago, even the wall.
