Our stay at Iroriyado Hidaya was one of the highlights of our 2-week trip. The hospitality was exceptional, probably the best we've ever experienced even in comparison to other more expensive ryokans. Staff were extremely kind and helpful; we had our own itinerary planned out, but we've seen how they assisted other foreign guests with recommendations to visit around Takayama. We had a Japanese speaker in our group, but the language barrier should not be much of an issue as they use a translation device with international guests. Location is quite a bit of a walk from the station, though we felt that it was worth it and they were extremely willing to help with taxi reservations for the next and subsequent mornings. Very highly recommended to stay here :)

There is a communal area where we can prepare food. The host has also left us some for us to eat and they are all FOC! There is even a washing machine with detergent that allows my family and I to do laundry after a few days on the road. Totally love this property!

Amazing and very clean place in a really beautiful area. The owner fantastic and very helpful. She pick me up from a bus stop, reserve ticket for me and even drive me to my bus stop to Nagoya! If you want a calm and cozy stay you should book this one.
