The property was very clean, beautiful and exactly what we saw on pictures. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location is great but not if you don't have scooter or other transport, it is not near the central way or beach by feet.

From the formal side: Very good European cuisine every day, ocean right in front of your door, amazing wild life and very attentive, approachable personnel, which suits all of your needs. From my heart: Apart from a really incredible picturesque location, which would really touch something inside your inner world, the staff’s scrupulous attention to your needs makes this stay unforgettable and gives the warmth as if you are staying at home. Skvělé ubytování a skvělý provozní. Místo je přímo na pláži Mirissa, která je trochu rušnější ale má to své kouzlo. Přímo z pláže projdete malou zahrádkou k ochozu s pokoji. Cestou se můžete osprchovat a do pokoje jít čistí. majitel nabízí lehátka a deštníky na pláž. K zapůjčení byly také Bodyboardy. Snídaně byly výborné, personál milý a všímavý. Byli jsme s dětmi tři noci a moc si to užili. Vybavení a čistota na ,Srí Lanku řekl bych, nadstandart. Mohu jedině doporučit.

My recent stay at Charming Dark Lodge in River was nothing short of exceptional, marking it as the best homestay experience I have ever encountered. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that exceeded all expectations. The highlight of our stay was undeniably our incredible host, who spared no effort in ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. From delicious lunches and dinners to delightful surprises and the most mouth-watering fish barbecue - probably the best meal I have had in the two months I have been in Sri Lanka. Beyond the culinary delights, our room was a sanctuary of comfort and style. Immaculately clean, equipped with a kitchen containing everything one could possibly need, and beautifully built and decorated. Originally intending to stay for four nights, we found ourselves captivated by the charm of Charming Dark Lodge, extending our stay to twelve nights. Departing was bittersweet, as we had grown attached to the unparalleled hospitality and the tranquil ambiance of our temporary home. A particularly memorable moment was celebrating my birthday during our stay. Our host went above and beyond to ensure it was an unforgettable occasion, adding a personal touch that truly made me feel special. Without a doubt, if I ever find myself in Sri Lanka again, Charming Dark Lodge will be my first choice for accommodation. Great location with direct view of a great shoreline...could leave the balcony doors opens and enjoy the fresh air and ocean waves day and night- great white noise while sleeping You could take advantage of the comfort and connection to the local community and very near nightlife... a quick drive either east into the core of Weligama (or westward as well), while being in a chilled, relaxed segment of the merissa-weligama-midigama shoreline. It was peaceful, quiet and sociable with beach shacks right in front to get to know other tourists and hospitable Sri Lankans running the beachside venues, and family run restaurants next door...either side of the hotel. The staff and owners at funky sol were great and I really enjoyed the communal social elements - restaurant/bar was welcoming creating great ambiance to get to know others since the restaurant bar gets a lot of patrons from neighboring hotels. Makes You feel a part of a community from the first day. Easy to get a tuk tuk ride since there's a defacto tuk tuk stand close by - 100m from entrance. Was a great option to decompress and integrate into a local beach community
