Filip and Sonya were fabulous hosts-very hospitable and generous with information and recommendations. The shuttle service to Abel Tasman made a day tramping in the park seamless. We enjoyed the accommodations so much we were lucky enough to be able to extend our stay by one day. Pōhara is an excellent location for visiting the Golden Bay and I can’t recommend the Bay Lodge highly enough.

Host are really kind, answer my every question and prepare water and gin as welcome gift. The room has fantastic facility for cooking and we enjoy our family dinner.

Chalet Karaka was absolutely delightful - a hidden gem, tucked away in a beautiful, tranquil bushy setting with a small picturesque stream running at the bottom of the garden. The shower was fantastic - excellent pressure with a lovely glass side looking out onto the private garden and stream. The room was spacious and well appointed and the icing on the cake was the generous outdoor undercover living area/deck complete with a Weber for all your barbecue requirements. Ngairie, our host, was friendly, welcoming and very helpful.
First Light Rangihaeata Retreat
Takaka (Near Pohara)
Boasting sea views, First light rangihaeata offers accommodation with a terrace and a kettle, around 14 km from Golden Bay. Guests staying at this chalet have access to a well-equipped outdoor kitchen and a balcony.

I also enjoyed yoga classes the 2 mornings I spent there, with 2 good instructors, Jade was the best! We loved our stay and we are looking forward to go back!
