The view was just spectacular! The host was so lovely, accommodating, and very informative. A perfect little log cabin, with a homely feel to the place, and a spacious grass area for the kids to play (where we could see them) was also a winner. We'll definitely be back.

Surrounded by nature and tranquillity, Wilderness Metanoia offers exquisite views of the Outeniqua Mountains and surrounding indigenous forest. Located in Wilderness it features a pool, hiking trails and a tennis court.

An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings including swimming in natural pools, tennis and bird watching. There is a hiking trail to the river and wooden treetop walkways.

It is a very beautiful place with a lot of things to do like relax at the pool or dam, play tennis or volleyball or have a nice braai. Johan was very nice and his dogs are very cute and friendly. It was very quiet during the day which we loved, although at night it gets quite loud because of all the animals chirping, so better bring some earplugs for a good nights sleep.

Looking for a cabin?

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.

The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The grounds were well maintained. The shop on the property was very convenient and had delicious food to purchase. The free bottle of milk given to us on arrival definitely encouraged us to purchase some more while we were there. The children had a wonderful time on the farm. The chalets were clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back.

The chalet is located on a property bordering Rondevlei and Langevlei, two lakes of major importance from a naturalist point of view (RAMSAR areas). For birdwatchers (like me), this is a place of great interest. In addition, Tim (the owner) is also a birdwatcher and was very helpful, offering to guide me to find the difficult endemic birds (Victorin's warbler). We had a great time in this beautiful area of the garden route. Self catering mandatory. The chalet is very well equipped for cooking.

We loved the first few nights in the tent. So grounding w nature, yet we had all we needed to be comfy. The daily display by the Jackal Buzzards was so special. Walking on the property and exploring the nearby attractions was so lovely. The last few nights spent in the Chalet was a real treat, enjoying the smaller birds and having the specials passing through the garden. The fact that we could have our doggies there was such a bonus and the pool on warmer days was such a life saver. Gail, Boos and Thandi are just the best!

Beautifully remote cabins on wild natural property surrounded by SAN Parks, LOTS of wildlife (especially a variety of tortoises), friendly staff, bush walks, no load shedding (cabins are off grid). South Africa needs more eco-reserves like this.

In the early 2000s we went to Fairy Knowe every year for our family holiday. Towards the end of this period parts of the hotel were starting to look worn. It is great to see that it is being rejuvenated and still retaining that atmosphere of a great family holiday destination. We stayed in 3 chalets and they were all very comfortable especially the family one. I was impressed with the vegetable patch that is looking very good.

What a magical experience! Such a beautiful little Chalet nestled in the bush. So isolated and far from civilization - we loved the privacy. You only hear nature and a ton of birds. It was such a cozy little place. I loved the visits from the birds and the fireplace in the evenings. More than enough wood for braais and the fireplace at night. Kind host and we just loved Thandi! Chalet was well equipt and we had absolutely everything we needed. We CANNOT wait to be back!
