We had an excellent experience in Platinum lodge ! It is one of the most quite, peaceful, nice and comfortable places we have stayed in. The owner is extreemly nice, we were welcomed with 2 hot maffines for our 5 o'clock coffee and when asked, she kindly offered us to wash our laundary using her washing machine. The property was extremely clean, had absolutely everything you needed. From all kitchenware, towelling, extra towels and blankets, network cable TV(SKY) although based in a rural setting was super close to supermarket and 5min drive to the city. The views around the property are breathtaking! The hosts had great communication and provided great directions to the property.

Patuha Rainforest Retreat is nestled in a native rainforest, between Kaitake and Pouakai Ranges. It offers free WiFi, parking and a mezzanine-floor lounge with a pool table. Amazingly quiet and peaceful. Beautiful setting. Reasonably close to main access to Egmont National Park. Can walk via a trail to nearby Pukeiti Gardens. Host was very pleasant and welcoming.

My room had a sink in it which was really nice, otherwise it was a very small room with a bed but just enough for me for an overnight stay. There is a common kitchen area and lounge, and two shared bathroom areas. The car park is in the back and you have to walk all the way around to go in and out of the front door to the car park, which isn't too bad but something to consider for mobility limitations or if you have a lot to carry to your room. There is a pub and a restaurant on the bottom floor and the accomodations are on the second floor accessed by stairs inside. I enjoyed my stay here and found it very pleasant. The price was higher than I would have expected but closer to fair than others I looked at in the area.
