Well kept rooms in a 1908 hotel with some renovations. Still retains that old hotel charm complete with creaky floorboards.
There is shared bathrooms including a Spa... which was cool to find. Also, common area kitchen with cereal, toast, tea, coffee and juices provided. Plenty of outside deck space front and back with a lovely guest only outdoor area that gets full sun and is great during winter.
They also have a great bistro downstairs and the bar is well stocked and well tapped. Plenty of options. The place was well presented and real testament to the Publican. Well done.
Featuring free WiFi and free parking, Vine Valley Inn is located in Cessnock's town center. It is 10 minutes' drive from a variety of local wineries and golf courses.

Large comfortable private room, clean. Good location in town. Little kitchen available and able to make breakfast.
This beautifully historic hotel is located just 15 minutes' drive from the Hunter Valley Wine Region. Guests can enjoy a drink at the on-site bar followed by a meal at the on-site restaurant.
Located in Cessnock just off Wine Country Drive, Linda's Cottage @ the Hunter is a cozy 1920's cottage, nearby vineyards and all that the Hunter Valley has to offer.

We are not big wine drinkers, so enjoyed some of the other features of the area including the Cider House, chocolate and cheese factories, a drive up through Lovedale to Greta and Branxton then back down the hermitage way for some nice views and up to a couple of lookouts, some good meals.
We spent nearly a full day in the Hunter Valley Gardens that were still amazing despite the start of winter and will be visiting them again when we return to the area for a bit more exploring

Cessnock rarely gets named or mentioned and instead, "Pokolbin" is used by the tourism industry .. Pokolbin is literally next door to Cessnock! As far as country towns go in NSW, Cessnock is a good place to stop in and even take a look at Pokolbin. Cessnock is well serviced shopping-wise, has many great pubs (especially "Peden's") for well priced accommodation and excellent restaurants in their own right. There are plenty of cafes as well as the usual fast food places. If you're within a hundred km of Cessnock, have a look .. it's a lovely city in its own right encircled by beautiful mountains and vineyards. Don't be pulled into "just" looking at Pokolbin and the vineyards. Cessnock is worth a visit. I have a strong feeling that tourism folk don't like to mention the name "Cessnock" due to its coal mining history - but that in itself can be a drawcard.

Cessnock is a lovely "little" country town just two hours north of Sydney. Make time to visit the Hunter Valley Wildlife Park - adults are $42 ea, - it is a lovely wildlife reserve, the chocolate factory and the lovely wineries. The people are very friendly and helpful. Give the Asian restaurant (Kee Ho Restaurant) a miss - they are expensive, and the quality of the food does not represent the cost.

What a beautifully presented house full of antiques and homely touches. Just amazed at the well stocked kitchen, laundry etc. The beds were comfy, even the sofa bed. It was a great space for 5 adults and 3 children. Wish the weather was warmer for the swimming pool though!

first time ever being in cessnock, the place we stayed the night at was great, we went to the wildlife sanctuary which was so much fun. for dinner we went to the italian cottage and was amazing would definately go there again was delisious. only let down of the hole trip was that the taxis were horrible we had dinner booked at 7 we called a taxi and they said it was going to be a 45mins wait we then called the cottage and let them know this and moved our dinner back 30mins, we then had the taxi turn up 10-15mins later but lucky the place we were having dinner was fine with us coming at the time we said originally. we then ordered a taxi to go home which was a 30mins walk home. they told us to wait outside and would be there in a few minutes.... we waited over an hour for the taxi to come we even called once we had waited 30mins already and they said they still had 2 people infront of us... which they had already said it wouldnt be long until they would get to us.... so sounded like a lie to us. We ended up walking home becuase it was cold and was sick of waiting for this damn taxi to arrive never ended up getting a message to say the taxi had even showed up to the venue of where we had dinner. very dissapointed in this.

It was okay we did enjoy the stay and the bus tour to the wine testing it was a good experience to test the wine with that much with the cheese, and people were very friendly they offered us the special drink us it was our first wedding anniversary, so it was great.
The location was fantastic, we took the kids to the Hunter Valley xmas lights it was an easy 10 minute drive.
The pool was clean, had seating with an umbrella for shade.
The rooms were clean, well stocked and the Beds were super comfortable. Checking in was easy, the owners very friendly.
Our aircon could have cooled a little better but it wasn't a problem as it wasn't very hot.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Thank you for our stay
We have stayed many times at this hotel, however seems to be under new management since the last time we stayed. The new family-run owners were lovely and very accommodating. The location of the hotel is fantastic with take aways, amenities and grocery stores within walking distance. It was also only 10-15mins from Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights event which was the reason for our stay.
Practical and very comfortable for a short stay. Friendly staff, and a good location to explore the Hunter Valley. Definitely worth becoming a Social Member of the Leagues Club next door for AUS $5, saved that six times over on food & drink at members pricing. Great place to go after a long day of wine tastings. Highly recommended.
Clean, quiet, comfortable, convenient location, lots of parking, easy to get in and out of the hotel, the aircon was working very well on a scorching hot day. An affordable option for an overnight stay close to Pokolbin. There are plenty of places to have breakfast/lunch/dinner in very close proximity to the hotel.
The location of the property was perfect. Close to the local supermarket, Hunter Valley Gardens, Wineries, Wildlife Zoo, etc… The hosts David and Hilary had fantastic communication, they were very accommodating when we had extended family stay for 1 of the nights.
It was a gorgeous hotel.. Loved the old vibe,, the history and loved loved loved the balcony so much we had a wine and cheese sunset one night. Rooms adequate and comfortable, no aircon but big windows to let the breeze in. Loved the dresser with tea and coffee.
The location of the motel was good to be at. The receptionist was helpful in terms of checking in and also providing some information on local visiting spots. Rooms were equipped with all necessaries and the beds were very comfortable.
The room was ready on arrival. Plenty of parking space. Near to coles woolworths and most places we wanted to visit in hunter valley. Enough restaurants nearby which are open till 9pm so getting dinner was not an issue.
Perfect in every sense, clean, quiet and just 12 mins drive to wineries, hunter valley gardens. Very helpful staff, welcomed us with a bottle of wine. A must place to stay when in hunter valley..😊
Property is pet friendly and kitchen is good size. TV is good with Netflix available. New couches and new patio furniture are great. Hosts are responsive and very considerate.
