Location was ideal, across the road from the local pub, which served a great meal for dinner (with live music!). Rooms were very spacious and clean, although furniture and furnishings were a little dated (which was perfectly fine) - bed was very comfortable.

    Privacy in utter luxury!

Privacy in utter luxury! Throwing off city life and jumping on a gorgeous boat for a leisurely 15 minute cruise along the Hawkesbury, was just the most divine introduction to Marramarra Lodge. The black and white aesthetic carries across from the boatshed to the enormous Lodge. Leather touches compliment industrial chic styling, so many great visuals everywhere we looked. Our Pavilion was tres chic! Vast spaces with lush furniture I could stretch out on. Bathrooms are made of stone and feel very in keeping with the native bushland all around. A great big balcony with daybeds made the perfect spot to lay and watch river life amble by, and lay we did (as we gorged on the well stocked complimentary mini-bar!). I could write reams on the food and beverage, from the morning buffet and hot breakfast to Chefs six course degustation dinner each evening, but after the complimentary beverage that is included in the rate and the sommelier paired wines at dinner, I can only say I remember it being most delicious! We were sorry to leave and will definitely be staying two nights on our next visit. There wasn’t time to enjoy the day spa or the canoes and paddleboards. Thanks for having us Marramarra crew! Being so close to Sydney, we look forward to seeing you all again soon!

We stayed two nights in a luxury Bungalow in late March.

We stayed two nights in a luxury Bungalow in late March. We boarded a great boat at Brooklyn and enjoyed the fifteen minute ride along the river. The property is really quite isolated despite being an hour from the city. The setting was a surprise, very green and the river was wider than I expected. More like the ocean than I'd imagined. The manager met us at the jetty on arrival and walked us to the lodge along a heritage path. Nice stories about the original settlers who carved it. A welcome drink in the lodge and then off to our bungalow to settle in. Great views of the river which seems to be visible from all sides. Sunset was particularly vivid, we sat around the fire to enjoy. Dinner was excellent, fancy in delivery but plenty of food and the matched wines were thoughtfully paired. Waitress was great, friendly but not nosy or obtrusive. Good range of selections at breakfast, local Honeycomb was pretty special. Beers and wines are included in the rate. Good selection of wines and local craft beers and I felt they were accessible whenever I wanted one. Overall pricing for what is included in the rate is good. There were bush walks and kayaks too, if you can drag yourself away from the views. Next time we come, we’ll book the boat ride over to lunch at Peats Bite. Great spot to take the better half, close to the city and with all the treats you need to relax and feel really rested. A classy establishment all round.
