We enjoyed a two night stay at the Avon Terrace Guest House and it was absolutely fabulous. The hosts Paula and Stephen were so welcoming and friendly. The accommodation was very comfortable and beautifully furnished with high quality bed linen and super fluffy towels. It has an excellent location in the very heart of York. We had two fantastic breakfasts each morning - the porridge with caramelised banana was a real treat followed by bacon and eggs. It really set us up for the day. The property has so much history and we loved hearing all about it's very colourful past. And if all this wasn't enough it has a great spa bath on the balcony! We highly recommend the guest house and would like to thank Paula and Stephen for such an wonderful stay.

A beautiful place to stay at the beginning of Spring.
A beautiful place to stay at the beginning of Spring. Lots of historical buildings to see, lovely gardens and the river is flowing well. The York museum is well worth a visit. The Salvos have a great jumble sale, items are very cheap and good quality - worth the visit just for this! And you get free entertainment at the same time!

There are little shops and interesting places to visit in the town centre and its surrounds. I enjoyed my 2 days there. That was enough time for me. I suggest planning your day and looking at the opening hours of the places you want to visit as almost everything closes by 5pm. I suggest visiting the Old Flour Mill which has a cafe and an interesting collection of art and vintage items for sale. The old gaol is also worth a visit.

An amazing Town steeped in history, excellent heritage buildings, surrounded by wonderful privately owned properties, being winter the countryside could be easily have been mistaken for any where in the English countryside. Dining out is not a problem with all tastes catered for in hotels and restaurants, all within easy walking.

What a surprising and delightful bed and breakfast in this gorgeous little town of York. Jeanette and her husband Paul have thought of everything. My husband and I have worked in the hospitality industry for years and it felt like we were in a gorgeous boutique hotel in the UK. A very short drive or 30 min walk to a magnificent lookout and a couple of mins drive down the hill to the village. A generous and delicious breakfast served up by an owner who is generous amd big hearted by nature A must stay.
This is a truly wonderful p;lace to stay at when visiting York. Jeanette and Paul are so welcoming, and the stay was one to remember. We loved our cosy bedroom, fluffy bath towels and lots of little extras. The place is very interesting and quite unique and Jeanette and Paul are wonderful hosts. We couldn't fault this place - warm, exceptionally clean' such attention to detail and a delicious breakfast. We felt really treated,.Top value!
Enjoyed a lovely 1 night stay. It is a beautiful guesthouse and the hosts, Jo and Mike were extremely friendly and welcoming. Lovely lounge and dining area with fireplace separate from our private accommodation. There are gardens to explore and animals on the farm. Continental and cooked breakfast was delicious! It is a short drive into the historical town of York. Such a shame we only stayed for one night. Highly recommend!!
Extremely well priced for a clean, comfortable bed & bedding, good shower with lots of hot water, towels & toiletries.
York is very quiet little town, stores mostly close at 4pm. We had takeout from the Chinese restaurant on Avon-it was very good.
Following am after checkout we went to the Nuygen Bakery for coffee & a sweet, also very tasty. the IGA grocery store right across the street.
Had a small problem when we arrived but was fixed in no time . Saul Bliss even help us with a problem that had nothing to do with the accommodation. Wonderful service well above what was in required. bed comfy best sleep in years . thanks for making our short stay so carefree . Will be Back and would recommend this hotel if you are going to York
A repeat visit to the York Pace. We stayed again in one of terrace rooms at the rear of the hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious. It’s a king bed and the bathroom is also very large. Staff were friendly and helpful and we appreciated the easy contactless check in with friendly text updates from the manager, Nola.
All round lovely place to stay. Can't fault anything about it. Owner very friendly. Fridge in room, tea/coffee facilities, complimentary milk and bottled water. Peaceful location with beautiful gardens. Will definitely stay again as we have family in York.
extremely good value for the money we paid, very comfortable beds, nice shower, well equipped kitchen, undercover outdoor seating area, tennis courts, very welcoming hosts, great location just 10 minutes walk to the main street of York
Located in the heart of York, it is in al excellent location for access to the main street. The rooms were comfortable and the shower hot. The meals were right sized rather than being very large as is usual in country hotels.
The property was well maintained and very clean. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was great. Breakfast was lovely and the owners were very friendly.
Definitely recommend this Hotel

We would stay here again next time we visit York.
