I seen development in the City since the last time I have visited. The city is no longer boring, but getting vibrant with many amenities and opportunities. Smaller City but has everything what's needed for a modern urban life.

I've stayed in this city many times.

I've stayed in this city many times. Always lots to do no matter what your interests. It has a pretty vibrant night life, and I've always felt safe here, no matter where I walked. Lots of history, lots of night life, lots of dining options (Seafood is a MUST!!), lots of tours, museums, etc. I live in Ottawa, and Halifax easily compares in the museum and history aspects, and in some ways is even better. Go there. You won't be disappointed!!

    Halifax is fantastic.

Halifax is fantastic. We travelled there 2 Septembers in a row (4 and 2 days respectively). if you stay downtown, you are able to walk to all the local attractions- we especially loved the boardwalk, citadel, and shopping downtown. Many many fabulous restaurants and museums. Also, fun to stay in Halifax proper and take excursions to local attractions( ie Peggy's Cove and Laurencetown beach) Prepare for rain - but this in no way detracts from having fun in this great city

If you only have a bit of time do the harbour hoppers tour. Lots of historical information about Halifax. A tour of the Citadel, important or historical sites and a brief trip into the bay to see the Halifax Harbour. Two thumbs up and very reasonably priced.

Halifax is more of a town than a city.

Halifax is more of a town than a city. I would say 2 days is ample, 3 at the most. I would say it's a walkable place but I walk mostly everywhere. If you use transit (bus, ferry) or use the bridges - you need to have cash (coins - $1 and 25 cents). The ferry across to Dartmouth is a fun little outing. The Titanic exhibition in town is informative but over-priced. At most you will spend an hour in it. I found Halifax a curious mix of individuals - lots of students and a fair amount of homeless folk. Some folk were super friendly but there does seem to be an element of 'tension' between the locals and the more transient populations - tourist, students, cruise people. I've travelled a lot and have never had that sense of tension before. Accommodation is super expensive or pretty basic. I stayed in a hotel in the North end, it wasn't cheap, $168/night and it was not good. My overall recommendation on Halifax - Go take a look for a few days but head off to see the rest of NS.

The room was large and the bed comfortable. The room was clean and provided with soap and shampoo. The WiFi worked well. Reception formalities were straightforward and staff pleasant and helpful. The room door had effective locks. The motel is located within 300m of busy roads but my room as quiet at night. Within (fairly long) walking distance of downtown Dartmouth. The walk is pleasant, taking in a lakeside path. The hotel is within 400 m of supermarket, stores and chain restaurants/cafes.

The front desk staff are really friendly and fast, check-in was easy. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. The bed was fantastic! I had an amazing sleep. The fitness room is incredible, they also have a separate room for Yoga and meditation. We had breakfast both days st the restaurant: very good. We did not have a car so were walking and ubering: it is a 45 minute walk to the ferry, which we enjoyed, and an $18 uber from downtown Halifax. I'd recommend this hotel.

The hotel is in an ideal location in Downtown Halifax and you can walk anywhere from there. Great proximity to the waterfront harbour. Rooms are of a fair size with a decent sized bed and lounging area. Staff are friendly. Wi-fi was good. There is a pool, gym and individual sauna's for male and female. Considering it is in the heart of downtown Halifax, the restaurant is relatively quiet.

Great location to everything in downtown/historic waterfront area! We never used the car while we were there - walking distance to everything. I stayed at both the Lord Nelson and Marriott Downtown hotels during my stay in Halifax. My room at the Lord Nelson was cheaper and yet 10x better than my room at the Marriott. It was a little busy when I checked-in but the staff in front assisted me as to where I can temporarily park. Great location just in front of the Halifax Public Gardens.
