Villefranche-sur-Mer is a lovely, out of the hustle & bustle of cities with interesting historical and nature sites nearby. For the "magnifique appartement" the outdoor terrace, availability of a few coffee pods in the apartment, and affordable pricing for the Cote d'Azur were most likeable.
What is unlikeable includes the dark entrance and hallway, sticky floors, dust everywhere, dank smell, dirty silverware and pots, lumpy, foam bed with worn linen, metal sofa bed, dying plants, unworking floor lamp, lack of information for how to use any appliances (no toaster was to be found in any of the overcrowded-with-random-cookware cupboards), stale spices, worn towels, lack of toilet, tissue and paper towels, remote location, difference between images in listing and actual furnishings, space and amenities.

A small, friendly Patrimoine (heritage ) town to the east of Nice. It has a good rail and bus service to Nice and towns to the east.
The town has many small, friendly restaurants and bars. There are small but well-stocked shops in the town. It makes a great base to explore this part of the riviera and beyond.

We loved the historic, quiet beauty of Villefranche-sur-Mer.
We loved the historic, quiet beauty of Villefranche-sur-Mer. We know it would be much busier in Summer so being there at the start of Spring was perfect although some restaurants were not open - April would probably be the ideal time. It is such a pretty town with a lovely harbour and so different to the glitzy high-rise of other parts of the French Riviera. The people were friendly and it was easy to travel beyond the town by train or bus to places like Nice, Monaco and Cap Ferrat. The tourism information centre people were very helpful, as were the friendly staff at Les Palmiers - great food too. We visited the Citadel and also the gorgeous Saint-Pierre chapel which was decorated outside and inside by Jean Cocteau.

Villefranche-sur-mer is one of the most beautiful villages...
Villefranche-sur-mer is one of the most beautiful villages in the South of France, beautiful harbours, beaches and stunning views. Surrounded by nearby beautiful towns, you can walk to Beaulieu Sur Mer & St Jean Cap Ferrat and being located in between Nice & Monaco, you are just a quick easy train ride either way or a stunning walk to either. The location is amazing. Highly recommend a fabulous Hotel in Villenfranche-sur-mer called “HOTEL DE LA DARSE” which I have stayed at twice now and it is excellent value for money, has a lovely restaurant & terrace, super breakfast, stunning views from the balcony rooms.

It is just such a beautiful place.
It is just such a beautiful place. Maybe not so suited for elderly or disabled people because there are a lot of stairs down to the vibrant area of the port and beach where most of the restaurants and bars are located. We had wonderful meals and drinks in great bars and loved sitting close to the water to eat our meal !! There is a little shuttle bus that can take you down from the top to the bottom but it only goes once an hour!

Very hilly withy difficult driving.
Very hilly withy difficult driving. Suggest renting an automatic car.
Eze was worth a short visit. We ate in a bistro just down the ro0ad from the hotel. Getting around is NOT easy. It would be better being lower down the mountain to make walking more possible

Great value for money, large room, fantastic shower and friendly staff.
Previous reviews mentioned the train noise but I’m a light sleeper and they didn’t disturb me, it’s more of a whooshing sound than a loud rattle!
The location was fantastic. At first we thought the hotel was a bit of a trek into Villefranche but actually it’s ideally located to wander into Beaulieu sur mer and walk around St Jean Cap Ferrat. It’s right on the bus route heading east & west and there’s a garage next door selling essentials.
This hotel is charming and rustic. The room had a lovely views and looked much nicer than the pictures. Breakfast is available at the hotel at a small charge and was delicious! The staff were very accommodating and gave great information about what to see/do and how to get around. The location of the hotel is ideal - walking distance to ville franche sur mer, beaulieu sur me and saint jean cap ferrat! It also walking distance to train station and bus stops to travel further afield!
Great hotel overlooking the Mediterranean. Our room was clean and modern. The air conditioning worked well. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well. The pool was refreshing and they gave us towels for the pool and the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. They served a very good breakfast with eggs made to order and many other nice choices. Eating breakfast on the terrace was one of the highlights of our trip. We really enjoyed our stay.
Charming hotel in an excellent location on the sea-front in Villefranche. The harbour, restaurants, Cocteau-decorated chapel all on the doorstep and a 10-minute walk to the train station.
Reception staff very helpful, rooms clean and quiet. Lovely balcony to the room with a table and chairs for the morning sun. Shower over bath was good. Hotel full of character and a history of interesting famous characters who have stayed here over the years.
The draw of Hotel La Regence is its atmosphere and charm, not to mention its amazing staff. There is a sense of going back a few decades in time when staying here; a time when people were genuinely friendly. "Regulars" visit the downstairs bar and coffeeshop all day long. This is a place to hang out and catch up on the town happenings, while keeping an eye on the farmer's market and soccer/football match across the street in the town park.
We checked in for a one night stay in the the hotel for a stay in Villefranche-sur-mer prior to our return back to the uk. Emilie was a perfect host and treated so well on our arrival. The Breakfast in the hotel the morning after was superb with choice of continental breakfast being excellent along with home made treats and cakes that added to the personal touch this hotel provides. The facilities and views are great from the location.
Villa Sea View was a great stay with the best host you can ever have. Yves will go to great lengths to make you happy and provide the things you need. The location is perfect, it was at least for us with a great and beautiful view over the Villefrance bay. Everything we needed was there to make this a pleasant vacation stay for our family. It sure was a great place that we will remember and we hope to come back again soon.
The hosts met us in person and were lovely, helping us understand the amenities of the apartment. The location is perfect between the town of Villefranche and Saint jean cap ferret. The bus was located right at the apartment so it was a quick walk to town or a 2 minute bus ride when we were tired. The hotel pool is nice and the beach is just a short walk away.
I came late with a kid and wife, and no one was either answering phones or opening the doors.
How jnbelievable to waste £120 and still no one texting back or ringing me regarding a refund I requested at midnight on 18/12/2023.
Booking.com staff said that they can not find anyone at the hotel.
I can tell there is a scam here.
We really loved this hotel. Very sweet, quaint, and quite. right on the water over looking the calm harbor of Villafranch-Sur-Mer. The staff were so friendly and had great recommendations, the location is perfect and we fell in love with the town.
Although not a huge choice, breakfast was good; hotel provided local produce - good bread, cakes eggs, butter, honey, cheese, hams, pastries. We ate breakfast in the sunny patio / garden every morning.
Amazing location on the water of Villefranche-sur-Mer. We had a captain’s/yacht suite which was SO cool. 2 private verandas. The views were spectacular. The staff was very friendly.
